18k HKD for iPod usb interface (6FL)?
The dealer is asking:
8.5K for the option 5k for installation 2.5k for cable Can't this option be ordered with the car (since I am planning to custom order)? In the US, this option is USD600 :'( |

Has anyone gotten the 6FL/Ipod USB interface install from factory (not by BMW HK)? How much did you pay for the option?

Therefore to use this cable fully you need the 6FL option. |

In f10 5 series, this option is standard. you can just plug in ipod to usb port in arm-rest.Went to the dealerhip and verified it all works. its about time these things are standard in premium cars....

I've got the 6FL (although this is in UK) and it was a factory install and a lot cheaper than the price you have been quoted.
HOWEVER, if I had my time over I might not bother. The iPod control is not so good; it works but it is more work to do anything than if you were just using the iPod directly. There is also a combined 12V/aux-in cable which will not give you direct control of the iPod but still lets you play the iPod through the AUX input on the stereo. I've done it both ways (6FL and no 6FL) on 2 x cars and I don't think the 6FL/USB is a major benefit. I'd rather spend the cash on Logic 7 and just use the iPod through the AUX input and control it directly. The other thing is (on my UK model) the 6FL DOES NOT display Chinese characters. |
