Sorry guys, I just want to spit this out... I think BMW's Fu@king up their next generation of designs... The only car I like now is the new 7 series (which is next gen) and the current X5 and X6. But come on! The new 5er looks so ugly in the front.. Some how I think the previous 5er looks more aggressive. The next 6er will look pretty similar to the new 5er with that huge wide open bumper... UGLY! Why is BMW using the less aggressive eye lids, bigger grills, and that weird front bumper??

BMW historically has been pretty understated design wise, I think the new 5 series is somewhat of a return to that philosophy. Personally, I love the way the new 5 looks.

yeah I am not a fan of the new five. I know a lot of people didn't like the E60, but I did. to me the F10 looks like a volvo. i despise the way the hood abruptly stops with a squared off edge that leads into the front bumper assembly. it is very displeasing to the eye IMHO. understated is fine, but I think they took it too far. if you compare the new E class and the new 5 series on looks alone, I think the MB wins hands down.

The nose is too tall but overall it's a more pleasing design than the awkwardly abrupt E60. BMW has always led the design revolutions thanks to Bangle. A lot of other companies emulate each other and take small proven steps forward to the point where it is difficult to tell which generation of a certain model line came first. BMWs are however less striking on the road nowadays compared to Audi and MB. Despite the nameplate, they seem to go a bit more under the radar now which I like.

The new 5er looks awesome.
If you want ugly, look at the E65 pre-refresh.

Blame it on the pedestrian safety standards, as if the cars run into pedestrians that often.
F30 is going to have that similar looking hood. Now, I only wonder, how safe are those cars which were made in the last 10-15 years and are still on the road, for the current pedestrians. This revolution will take a very long time, at least for the road scenario to change. Oh, and you got pedestrain walking in front of the cars every now and then. ![]() |

I dont like any of the new designs in pictures, but when I see them in person, they are quite stunning, this include the new 5 and 7 which I hated on paper.

I think every BMW out now looks quite fantastic. The ugliest has to be the 1-series but even that isn' t bad looking.

The Bangle years were definitely problematic and that hangover is finally going away with the new models.
I like the all models except the 1 series and Z4 - just not for me. I am looking at getting the new 535 for my wife - we looked at it and really like it.

old 5 series design was cool, but in my opinion..
the current 5 series design should have been the last series design, and the last series design shoulda been the new series design. the new one is just too boring and is like a revision of the old old X1, New X3 ugly X5, X6, 7 Series Nice 1 Series is nice, the next generation will be ugly |

There is so much incorrect information being thrown around on 1addicts right now. It's not going to be $70k that's ridiculous. Scott26 has been saying from the beginning that the car would be approx $10k US over the price of a 135i. Don't believe anything you read until BMW makes the pricing and specs official.

Back to the OP. I agree BMW is going "wierd" with the next generation of cars. I especially don't like the raked back headlights, and the built-in eyebrows.

Well styling is a matter of taste, I owned a E60 04 530 and now have a 2011 535.
I find my 535 much more attractive and seems to be built a lot better. As far as the front design, You might as well get used to it BMW has to meet European pedestrian crash standards. |

I get the new bumper design for European pedestrian crash standards, but the headlights...
I guess it is what it is.
