Question Need PUF vs. ABS M-Tech Spoiler Comparison

I'm looking to get either the CF/Painted M-Tech Trunk Spoiler or just the painted version.

Question I have is JBSpeed sells painted version made from ABS, & E92 Lighting sell painted in PUF. Both are quality vendors & both offer same price.

Can anyone give me their imressions/comparisons between the (2) materials?

I realize the PUF is flexible and should therefore have perfect fitment, but if the ABS version is correct, it would fit well also.

I kinda lean toward the ABS version only because it is more rigid. I'm worried about the reliability of the PUF version due to how far it overhangs the trunk lid and the fact that I don't want to have to be careful when closing the trunk by closing with my hand on the spoiler. Plus I worry that the PUF version will get wavy/warp after setting in high heat all day.

Any observations/likes/dislikes of both from those that have em' would be greatly appreciated to help me make final decision

Thanx
-Jay-

I am not sure if PUF is the same-thing as PUR but PUR is very soft but retains overall shape and rigidity. It bends but will maintain overall shape.

ABS is cheap to produce, if it is not made 100% fitment, it will not fit properly or out-of-shape when you try to install it on your car. Which is why most ABS body kits require a body shop to help modify to install.

Very interested to know this as well. This is my first BMW, and coming from the VW scene I was typically wary about buying replica parts simply because the quality wasn't there.

I can't testify for E92-lighting's spoiler, but I can tell you that JBSPEED's products are extremely good and fitment is not an issue if that's what you're worried about.

JB seems to have a very reasonable return policy.

Again, generally the price differs so the answer is much easier.

We'll see

Thanks for your comments!

I bought a prepainted M lip spoiler from E92-Lighting and was blown away at how good the quality of the product and paint was. I'm extrememly happy. havent seen the others out there. I read that PUF was better than ABS

Regarding the differences between ABS and PUF M3 spoilers, has anyone run into any issues with softer PUF being an issue in the hot California sun?

I am torn between E92-Lighting and JBSpeed's products. Both obviously get great reviews. So for me it comes down to which will hold up better in the heat. Our poor cars cook in the damn sun during the summer months.

Any opinions?

I ended up getting a painted ABS version from someone who is no longer a vendor here.

Paint was dead on, fitment is perfect - couldn't be happier & glad I went with the ABS over the more flexible PU version.

I guess the PU would be a better choice if spoiler fitment is a little off, since it is flexible enough to adapt - but fitment was not a concern with the spoiler I purchased. I was also concerned about whether PU would get wavvy after setting in the hot sun for long periods - plus I usually close the trunk by pushing down on edge of lid - thought the more rigid ABS would be better for this.

Any other thoughts on ABS vs. PUF/PUR? E92-Lighting seems to be based out of socal, so if there were any issues with heat sensitivity on his PUF spoiler, I'm sure someone would've said something by now. The price difference seems minimal...
