Be very careful with this. It could take the color right out of your seat.
Best bet, without causing damage is take a hot wet towel and press it onto the gum to loosen it up. Once it is pliable rub with the towel until you get it all off.

As others have said, you need to freeze it. Just get a can of compressed air, invert the can, and spray the gum a few times. The thing will pop right off. |

Another vote for freezing, tried both ways (hot towel and freezing) and freezing is def the way to go

Freeze it. My buddy had a detailing shop, that what they did.

The hot towel works. Used it on an old car. Freezing is easier, but if you don't have the spray why go out and waste money?

I've used 1intenseI35i's method many times and it works fine (i.e. plastic bag with ice cubes). I leave it on the gum spot for a little while while I do something else and when I come back to the gum it's nice and hard. A small flat head screwdriver or old credit card and it usually pops right off. Clean the area after it's removed and your good.
I've also used this method on carpet with gum as well. I remove the bigger pieces with a pair of needle nose pliers and then a fine comb through the remaining gum in the fibers.

Hands down, freeze it and it will flake right off.
Easiest way? Get a can of compressed air used to blow dust out of your computer/keyboard. Flip it upside down and spray. Make sure you don't get your skin with it. |
