Okay Patriots, this is the best I could do for tracking our cars. I may have OCD.
This is the schedule for the ports the Patriot will be hitting. As you can see ANTWERP BELGIUM is stop numero uno. This is the current location of the Patriot, moving through the waterway almost to Belgium. Next stop...UK! |

Patriot made it past the locks about an hour ago.
Berendrecht Lock and Zandvliet Lock Complex of the world's largest 2 locks. Situated 25 km from Antwerp, they connect the Western Scheldt river (Westerschelde) to the Port of Antwerp (Dock B2). The locks are named after the 2 nearby villages. * Zandvliet Lock (Zandvlietsluis)(northern lock) - completed in 1967: 500m long; 57m wide; 13.58m deep (TAW). * Berendrecht Lock (Berendrechtsluis) (world's largest) - completed in 1989: 500m long; 68m wide; 13.5m deep (TAW). |

I wonder what's on the boats on the way back to Europe. I assume there's at least a few X5s and Z4s, but is there enough volume to fill the boats going in that direction?
I remember reading that the boats used to transport Japanese cars are refrigerated. Not because the cars "keep" better in a refrigerator :-), but because on the return trips, they're loaded with citrus fruit, which doesn't grow in Japan.
