Special E90 Track Day. Sept 25-26. Infineon Raceway. Only $49 per day!!!

Hi Folks,
The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) is hosting a special track day on September 25-26 at Infineon Raceway. The special event is a HyperDrive which basically allows you to drive your car on the track in a special session.

Drivers will receive a classroom session followed by an on track session. You will drive your own car with a NASA Instructor will be riding in the passenger seat. NASA instructors will guide you every step of the way. Convertible cars need to have roll bars. Hyperdrive is fully refundable if requested at least 7 days in advance.

Hyperdrive usually costs $99 per day but E90post members can get a 50% discount rate. That is a crazy deal. If that was not enough, you also get a special T shirt to always remember the special day.

If you want to sign up, visit http://www.nasaproracing.com/event/1133 and use special coupon code N0RCAL-HdriveIQ03OP84

If you have any questions, let me know nannini26@comcast.net

Do you have to have an instructor to track at Infineon? How many track session are included?

yes, the $49 deal is only one session. If you want multiple sessions, the price is $179 per day which gives you 4 sessions and if you have prior experience you don't need an instructor.

I just noticed the BMWCCA HPDE for Infineon on 9/25-9/26 has been cancelled. I guess this is the same event slot. I wonder what caused the BMWCCA HPDE cancellation?

Thanks for the heads up. I was looking forward to that weekend, but looks like I'll need to register with NASA instead I'm looking to do the full 2 days.

probably because the BMWCCA events cost a ton more then most other racing clubs to run at the same track.

They've been struggling to fill their events for a while now in this "new" economy.

NASA is not half bad.

Because Infineon wanted $20,000 a day for the use of the facilities. Since BMW CCA concentrates on giving their customers an educational driving event and are required by the CCA by-laws to operate as such, having instructors available for each and every participant means the costs adds up. At the end of the day, even if they can attract 100 drivers, it still comes to at least $400 per person just for the cost of the track, plus cost for lunch, instructor lodging, insurance for the event, corner workers, fire and safety...It all adds up.

NASA on the other hand, has multiple run-groups with multiple race groups. On any given weekend there can be as many as 200+ participants at any time and instruction is only by request. So they can keep the cost of operation down. I don't know how Northern California NASA is run, but the few So Cal NASA events I've been too, if you're part of the DE group you are definitely at the mercy of the racers. Meaning any time there's a contact or mechanical that requires a tow or stoppage of track, it comes out of the DE time.

Not saying one organization is better than the other. They serve different clientele. Unfortunately for the clientele that BMW CCA serve, tracks like Infineon are pricing themselves out of most chapter's ability to absorb the financial hit. But for tracks like Infineon, if BMW CCA doesn't fill the date, someone else will.

Signing up for HPDE 1 means an instructor is assigned to you always. NASA has a passport that needs to be signed off by your instructor before you can move to HPDE 2 which runs with HPDE 1 but without the instructor.

My experience in Norcal, NASA instructors about on par with BMWCCA.

I was looking forward to the CCA event. I'll have to think about the NASA, especially since it'll be the first time at that track.
Do they have cones and classroom time too?

In HPDE Group 1 you get personal classroom time with instructor. After graduating from Group 1 you get group instruction.

So, anyone going from e90post?

I'm probably going out Sept 25. Talking a friend into going his first time in a STI.
I normally run Group 3 but will do Group 2 so I can (hopefully) go out the same time he does during Hyperdrive.

The BMW one was cancelled for two reasons that I am aware of...low enrollment..and Infineon raised their rates AGAIN. I saw an email from Mark Dadgar about this.

Why are you saying PER DAY...when it is just ONE SESSION? That is very misleading. Wait...is this Ali?
