30ff 30ff 30ff

Car is at dealer now for the 4th time with half-engine limps occurring predictably, without fail. Just romp the car through a few gears to around 6k RPM and ~BING~ your engine has malfunctioned.

Each time, we got 30FF.

Visit/Result
1) replaced a fuel pressure sensor
2) replaced some other sensor
3) found loose clamp
4) current: tech believes the wastegates have too much play and are not seating correctly.

Could this mean new ( the latest ) turbos for me? Any ideas what might be the cause?

Mine's an 11/06 build 335 w/MSD80 and the bad actuators/turbos. Completely stock.

They will measure the tolerances on your wastegates and if they fall out of the acceptable level you will probably get new turbos.

How many miles? I have a 2007 build which I belive is the MSD80 as well. I have no wastegate rattle to complain about at 15K miles.

I've gotten this same code once, maybe I should take it in?

This car has 39k miles. No wastegate rattle at all, but it only recently got the "turbo retrofit" option selected to get rid of the lag, so I'm sure to have rattle soon, if they can get it to run properly.

Hopefully though, they'll just replace the turbos with the latest design. It sure seemed to run strong from low RPM after said "retrofit" was enabled, but constant 30ff after WOT prevented any real driving.

Update: PuMA request has been made for replacement of the turbos. I'm guessing the Tech removed them and found excessive wear ( or the result of bad hardware ) as posted by joec500.
