Installed JB3 last night, interesting issue during install

So I installed the JB3 last night and was very careful to make sure all
wiring was correct. On first start of the car the car was stumbling, I could smell gas, and finally got a half engine light. I of course figured even though I was careful I somehow miswired something. During this time I tried restarting the car and got 1 somewhat long crank.

Before taking of all the connectors back out which is such a pain I decided to try putting the JB3 in "listen mode" and setting it to map 0. After setting it to map 0, the car started right up and seemed perfectly normal. After letting it run for a while I decided to try map 3. Switched the JB3 to map 3 and all still seemed normal. Drive the car for over an hr without a single code or any issue.

So really not sure what was going on with the JB3 to make going into program mode fix anything. I asked Terry about it and he didn't have much idea either of what would cause it to act that bad and then completely go away after changing maps.

I'm wondering if the engine stumbling and gas smell I experienced were the first signs of an upcoming HPFP issue. If so that would be quite the coincidence that I first saw the issue when putting the JB3 in. Anyway, knock on wood all seems well for now.

Anyone else experience anything similar when putting in a JB3.

Thanks

Nope...i assume you have the pin-out version?
My suggestion, take out and reinstall...something does not sound right...was the battery disconnected while installing?

I don't really plan on removing it at this point. It's running perfectly fine so I see no real reason. Just looking for possible cause of what I saw.

Might not even be related to the JB3. Starting and stopping an engine in quick succession leads to a buildup of gas in the engine. If you started it, then turned it off quickly even once you could experience the same symptom. By taking it out for a drive, you allowed the engine to warm up completely and burn off any excess gas. If it's not throwing codes now, don't worry about it much.

After driving the car even more I'm feeling
Something slightly off. Feels like the car is lurching a bit almost like were hitting bumps. Not sure if that is a good word to describe it or not. Wondering if I've got a fuel pump on the way out.

No codes or anything else again yet though.

Lol thanks for your help very constructive you are. So I managed to install it in some manner where everything seems to be running normal with no codes and I'm not even sure if what I feel is real or I'm just over analyzing it and looking for things. I'm sure thats it thanks!
