Just took the car to the track - disappointed

This past weekend was the first opportunity I had to run my e93 down the quarter mile. I don't think this is a fair judge on my car, but it doesn't mean I'm happy with the results.

I had to sit in DC traffic for 3 hours to get there, so I was totally heat soaked. My first couple runs I ran a 14.1. I let the car sit for an hour or so, and made some more runs. The fastest I could squeak out was a 13.869 at 102.7.

Can the heat affect our cars THAT much? The temperature was 95 degrees outside and humidity was horrible. Here were the stats.

R/T .058
60' 2.193
330 5.939
1/8 9.025
MPH 80.92
1000 11.649
1/4 13.869
MPH 102.7

I would think that even if it was that hot outside, I should still be able to squeak out a time better than stock with an intake and tune!

What gives? Suggestions?

You don't have any mods and your vert weighs a ton. These times are about right for a stock car

Stock in that weather, that is a good run 13.8 @103 for a vert - stock E92's typically run 13.5 at 105 ish in better weather, so sounds spot on, put a tune in it and run it on a cool day and you will see some definite improvements!

Sorry guys, need to update my sig. I had the DCI and JB# 2.0 running on map 5. Almonst every time I ran, I spun through the water box with the DSC inactive and launched with the DTC light on in my dash. What suggestions would you have to lower my 60 ft time. I dumped the clutch anywhere between 2200 and 3000 rpm.

lower your 60' time (practice your launch for minimal wheel spin). better tires will help too.

Unless you have drag radials or slicks you should drive around the water and not burn out. You just make your tires greasy. Just a FYI

The E93s often run low 14 @ 99-100 stock in good weather. They are 400# heavier. So hot weather, E93, manual trans, bad 60', times sound about right to me.

I agree about the water box. Any street tire you should be going around the water box. If you were to run a drag radial, then your best bet would be to go around and back upto the water box where it is slightly wet then do a burnout, do not go into the puddle. The 60fts are pretty bad. Next time on street tires, avoid the waterbox and the 60 fts will come down. Try slipping the clutch alittle out of the gate instead of dumping.

They dont give you the option at Capital Speedway. They put up cones so you cant. Mike I see you said that time seems right to you - I'm running map 5!

That sucks that you cant go around. Were you doing your burnout in the waterbox, or did you do it outside of the box?
