BMW Performance Shift Knob

I have the UUC SSK installed, which along with the CDV delete is awesome, but I'm having trouble getting the BMW performance shift knob to lock in place on the new shifter.

Can anyone tell me just how much effort it takes to get this thing locked in? I weigh about 250 lbs., and even using all my body weight to put pressure on the knob, it still doesn't lock. I know that it is lined up properly.

I want to be careful not to break anything by using to much force, so if anyone could let me know what their experience has been, that would be awesome.

Garage List
The notch should line up. If not, the plastic inside the hole of the knob might have been damaged. Use some tape or something.

I've checked the plastic inside the knob and it looks fine. The knob fits on the stock shifter, but it is VERY tight.

Interesting idea regarding the tape. I may try that, but it seems like it could get messy.

It's on now. I ended up heating the knob to about 150 degrees and was able to push it on. Fit seems good so far. No slipping or anything.
