Moved from E92 Petrol to E91 Diesel

For various reasons I have to start saving pennies so traded in the 15 month old E92 325 SE Auto for an 8 month old 318d M Sport Touring Business Edition.

To be honest I wasn’t entirely sure that I’d made the right move, however I got a good PX for the 325 and I’m really enjoying the 318. The M Sport set up is spot on, it’s comfortable and obviously more economical plus I can now fit all three grandchildren in the back (yes it comes to many of us in the end).

A few additions include:
  • Oyster/Black Dakota Leather
  • Burr Walnut Wood Trim
  • Elec Fold Exterior Mirrors
  • Extended luggage and storage
  • Rain sensor with auto headlight activation
  • Seat heating front
  • Sun protection glass

From this:

Suppose I'd better change my signature now

Cheers

That's my biggest fear with light coloured leather. It looks great but I'd be so paranoid about it getting stained or marked.

I've had quite a few light interiors and the wife has never had a problem keeping them clean As for the grandchildren they know the rules and can go without sweets, crisps and sticky stuff for a surprisingly long period of time

My next door neighbour has lemon interior and also has two young girls. His 07 E91 320D M has now done nearly 150k miles ...yep 150,000 and the interior still looks pretty good. He reckons the leather has only been cleaned only when its been serviced. His headrest has a bit of marking but really its astonishing how good his car looks.

previously he drove Volvos (3 in succession) and none of them lasted much past 100k

Get Terra leather - almost every dirty mark is almost invisible!

I like that interior - apart from the "wood."

That's very impressive re: the lemon leather - I've known beige leather on chairs and sofas to stain from the dye in denim before!

looks great, interior and exterior. the oyster does look good
very wise move for the practicallity, grandchildren are more important than posing in a coup (especially for the one who had to go in the boot)

So yeah how do you get three grandkids in the back, they cant be in kiddie seats? In the back of the 5er, we can only get 2 kids (which is probably a good thing )

ibane - I had an E90 318d M Sport as a loan car and it did feel a wee bit asthmatic. Good on fuel though!

Cooper Sunderland offered to change to piano black (same as old car) but the wood effect looks OK so decided to stick with it.

12, 11 and 7 (only 1 needs a booster).

Honestly... Lack of zip however I'm still getting used to the gear ratios but to be fair I was prepared for that. It does seem to have some low down pulling power particularly in 4th and overtaking has not been a problem, no doubt I'll miss the sharp response that I used to have in DS mode in the 325 but I have to accept that it's a totally different car with strengths in other areas.

Had a run out at the weekend down the A1 and it was very smooth and quiet plus the fuel guage didn't move (might be broke).

Now covered 450 miles since filling up and the car says it has another 150 miles to go until empty. Not all about economy though, the handling is far better in M Sport v SE and the sports seats are spot on comfort wise.

Thanks for the positive comments and feedback, I'm not past it by any means and as with most blokes I'm still a kid at heart.

Cheers

Trev
