Car Rental in Europe

(tried to search, but search is not working)

I'm flying in to Zurich, and driving to Salzburg, Vienna, Milan, possibly Munich and looking for a deal on car rental.

Any advice? It's seeming that 1) renting outside of the airport is waaaay cheaper and 2) upgrading my GPS software to include Europe is cheaper than renting a car with Nav

Any advice on rental companies / cars for that type of trip would be great. We did it before 2 years ago and had a pretty nice car, but I can't remember the company :S

Should I get the insurance or verify I'm covered here with my own policy or cc?

LMK

Thanks!

You're right the selection is great!

Think a 1er is good enough for this trip, for 2 ppl, some bags? Should I take their insurance?
They also have one class up, Opel Insignia "or equivalent"

I rented through Sixt. Price was reasonable compared to others. I chose the 1er class hoping for a 116d or 118d or something, but ended up with a Mazda 6 diesel, which was an upgraded car - size/price wise. It was on a Friday, so I couldn't complain about the lack of availability of the 1er.

Edit: they used to have a 10% discount through their iPhone/BB app. See if it's still applicable.

Ah this is great.

so far Sixt outside of the airport is winning on price; and their prepay option helps. Did you take their insurance or use your own? I'm still confirming that part. Will check the app for discounts.
