Quick Question On Cellphone Roaming...
im going to canada in a few hours and i am on t-mobile. when i go into canada, do i need to turn the phone off/airplane mode/etc to avoid any additional charges?
to my understanding i can leave the phone as is and i will only get charged when im actually calling & using it not for just having it on... help much appreciated, thanks guys once again .

you only get charged for talking/texting, not for having it on..
I am constantly roaming with 2 phones 365 days a year... (I have 3 phone lines.. north america, europe and middle east, so depending on where I am, I am roaming on 2) and my bill is my basic fees unless I talk on them...

yup as said above, you'll only get charged if youre making calls or txting and dont forget, if youre receiving or sending emails or using the internet, you will be charged outrageous amounts for all of that too

What's really expensive is the data roaming (internet via 3G, etc.). My friend was using her iPhone for google maps, emails, and a bit of youtube; racked up $700 in five days.
Edit: Yes you can leave everything on and won't get charged, as long as you don't use anything, except maybe when a text message comes in. |
