Great track pads: my experience with Endless MA45B
I had some issues with finding proper brake pads for my 335i. I am driving on the Ring so now and then and although the standard brakes are good the pads just couldn't handle the heat. (high wear)
I tried the Pagid RS29 (yellow) which had a nice bite but didn't really last long so IMO they didn't justify the price difference compared to normal pads. Then I tried the Cool Carbon pads which got some positive reviews here in this forum. Personally I did not like them. Very long pedal travel, did not bite as the Pagid, and had a high wear. (a bit less then standard pads, but more then the Pagid). Orginal: 25 laps Pagid RS29: 50 laps Cool Carbon: 30 laps The Cool Carbon where a bargain compared to the RS29 though. But as they did not give me the confidence I needed I looked for something else. I read about Endless, they have a very good reputation on the Ring and many of the top teams drive these pads there. One set of pads holds a complete 24 hour race and they are not aggressive on the discs. ![]() My shop had some good experience themselves so I gave them a shot. (although the price is steep, about 80% on top of Pagid RS29) I bought the MA45B Compound: Developed for endurance racing and immensely popular in Europe with a long history of great race results. Used by the majority of entrants in the Nurburgring and Spa 24-hour races. Lower mu levels with great stability ensures high performance throughout the entire race. Excellent modulation and stability. I am so happy I did that ![]() The brakes have a great bite, better then the RS29, and are very good to modulate. The stopping power is crazy for a standard brake. (I still have the standard disc and based on this I for sure do not need a BBK) Lap after lap they keep providing the same pedal feel giving a lot of confidence on the brakes. This is by far the best brake/pads combo I have ever driven! The wear is crazy, in a good way ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() As I have go to the Ring again next weekend I kept the pads on (normally I switch to normal street pads) and they work without an issue in normally driving. No problems in wet or when cold. They just make a lot of noise when coming to a standstill. (like a train stopping at a station) For this reason I will keep switching them, for people who do not mind, you for sure can keep driving them in daily traffic. |

Ever tried Carbotech?
IMO XP10/XP12 is a superb big power/weight pad. I'll get some cut for the 335i when they are due next time. Maybe the USA disto have them already. Here in UK they buy the XP pucks and jet out the back plates for them, even doing one-offs to pattern. |

Cool.
I'm glad you finally found a good pad for the track. Did you swap out the pads after the track? If not, how were they on the street? Sound? Remember that the CC pads are a Street pad compound that can handle some tracking, but if you were using the endless on the street with no issues then it sounds like it's an incredible dual purpose pad.

Are these pads available in North America? I'd like to give them a try!
Looks like these pads, according to the OP, while lasting longer and having better performance than the CC pads, are also easy on the rotors. Need to try ![]() One question though! If you are to do track side pad change, what about the bedding in process with these pads? I know for a fact that the CC pads require proper bedding in or your track day would be ruined, the reason I use CC pads also for street.

^ Yes, they are available in North America. It's one of the most popular race compounds for endurance racing in the USA. Used to complete the 12 hours of Sebring, and 10 hours of Petit without pad change. The key point is that while doing that, the rotors don't see much abuse, and there is plenty of material left after the race. So the drivers don't have to worry about being down to the backing plate.

Thanks for the answer, now how about the bedding? Will you not have issues by only changing track side?

For the 335xi
Front: EIP150 Pad shape "MX72" Rear: EIP138 Pad shape "MX72" MSRP is $325 an axle set. You can order them @ MSRP cost through us directly, or I would recommend contacting one of our European car shops (GMG Racing is a good one). They might give you their price for those pads. I have to special order these, roughly 3 weeks wait time. |
