Rattling trunk and new sub setup
I have been reading these posts for awhile, and this is the first time im posting. I recently decided to add a sub and amp to my car to improve the bass response only to have the trunk rattle (ghetto bass up the ass). I want to conserve as much trunk space as possible, since I have a kid on the way. I have been looking through the threads and came across this link, but how do I know if I have a ski pass?: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=341416
I also read about the SWS-8 upgrade. I guess my main question is what is the least complicated way (installation wise and time) to improve the bass response in my car? My equipment is an Alpine Mrp-M500 amp and 12" Alpine 1241 DVC in sealed enclosure. Any suggestion is greatly appreciated and thank in advance! |

thanks for the reply. All I have is a 12" alpine type R in a sealed enclosure and it rattles when i turn the bass up with the bass knob i have. If i dont turn the bass up, then I cant hear it in the cabin cause of the insulation...
I dont want to just add layers of dynamat, and thought that maybe adding vent holes in the rear deck would work? Or should I remove the rear speakers first to see if that allows the bass to travel into the cabin? So lost... |

Your setup pushes all the pressure into the cabin...thus why you don't experience much rattling. In a sealed enclosure, the box rattles, and the front of the sub rattles (obviously because of the sub), and anything the box is touching , also vibrates/rattles. Also, depending on the sealed enclosure, all the pressure is stuck in the trunk. I have a zenclosures box and it pretty much sealed to the back seat. I do leave it about an inch and half away from the backseat to get some flow into my ski pass. Sounds great but the trunk rattles alot.

Trunk rattles like crazy
I recently added subs and a bandpass box and the trunk rattles like a mother. I managed to pinpoint some of the vibrations and deaden them but it still sounds like s#& from the outside! The locations i found ranged from the rear bumper to the gas cap door all the way to the front license plate! From in the cockpit however it sounds like a concert.
