Powersliding!

Whoa!

Had my first 'Quaife' moment tonight on the way home.

Road wet through, emerging from familiar junction turning right, dry weather power on, Bridgestones let go very early into the turn, back starts to swing out, mentally note that yellow light isnt flashing, keep the power on, back swings out even wider in a nice slidey arc, still no flashing light, back off gently all comes back into line nicely and we power off down the road.

Hero stuff.

The most surprising thing was I had forward drive all the way through, the chassis was settled and no flashing lights. Fantastic.

Conclusion, Bridgestone RFT's are great for powersliding in the wet as they have almost no grip at all when you need it.

Any idea why its so much dearer on the 335d than the 335i ?

A lot of cash, but I would love to go sliding again with control

The quaife is a fantastic piece of kit which enhances the car so much. But if you always used to have the tree flashing previous to its fitment, why didn't you disable the facker.

Yes it can kill people. Especially if you can't control it.

You should never do them when its busy. Come on a un marked car could be anywhere

So can driving over 100mph. That also can kill people. So can drink driving, jumping red lights. Lots of people do lots of these things unfortunately.

I'd say the % is FAR higher for you to be killed by a drink driver, than a driver deliberating power sliding out of as junction.

Golly, what a Nanny State we've all allowed ourselves to be brainwashed into!

The point is, I didnt set out to do this, this is the cars normal attidude without the inteference of electronics.

We have all forgotton how to drive a powerful rear wheel drive car without electronic interference.

The fact that it broke away progressivley and was easy to control is the real beauty.

Thinking back, the sensation was just like drifting my old 1100cc MK2 escort in a snowy supermarket carpark all those years ago.

Wonderful.

Just for the record, there was no visible traffic for 200 yds in either direction.

Buddy, chill...... I was explaing to MB how far dangerous other things are on the road compared to a powersliding BMW being controlled carefully.

I Love sideways action and doughnuts. Ask anyone who has met me.

Heh, no probs, I wasnt commenting on your comment, just lamenting the fact that even as enthusiasts we have all bought into the subliminal mind control messages that anything slighly naughty should be frowned upon and reported to the 'authorities'
