Traction prevention: LSD or new tires?

As most of us, I have been facing severe traction problems...

I know for what I read that both LSD and non RFT tyres are important mods to help this.

However, the problem with the LSD is that it is VERY expensive compared with the tires and after you install it you tires still suck if you still have Bridgestone RFT as I do...

Please share your experiences!

Sure the RTF's suck, but non-RFTs will only give you a small amount of extra grip in the dry. However the LSD will give you huge amount and you can always delay swapping the RFTs to when they are worn down. Given your mods, nothing short of an LSD will help you get more traction so spend the extra money now and get the LSD. You won't regret it.

OMG PLEASE get an LSD. Everything about driving this car is better. Literally everything. I got raped on the price for mine and still don't regret it.

Yep raped is right, considering the lowest price I can find is Dinan ... when did that ever happen before?

I got brand new tires better rated than my old runflats but still the traction suffers alot. There is no replacement for the LSD...maybe Hoosier drag radials

That said, I am beginning to save money for a LSD...

Did you try running reduced power in 1st gear torque settings?

I run 60%, traction is almost all the way through the powerband.

Comparing 100% power, spinning tire, VS just hooking up and going with less power is night and day.

Power is nothing without control!

You can get grippy rft. I wouldn't know about traction issues, mines awd.

Tires first your traction will only be as good as your tires can hold. I have a set of 255 kdw2 and dont have any traction problems when its warm and I am fully modified as long as you go into the throttle linearly you will have traction.

I only have 235 around and I never have traction problems in a straight line with the tires I've got on. I think they are Kumhos but I'm not sure.
The tires does a lot, but with an LSD I'd be able to be more agressive in corners. Almost bought an LSD before I changed tires and rims, my rims are HEAVY 19 inch rims and they should help some in prevent acceleration since they are big and weigh a lot. Not a good choice of rims, but at least I don't have traction problems

And yes, I'll get rid of the rims next summer....

I went from the OEM RFT to 275 Invo's which are non-rft and it's like a day and night difference. The traction is much better in a straight line and corners. The TC light still comes on, but not as much as it did befere. I know an LSD would make it even better, but since my car is my DD, and I don't do any track days nor autocross there's no need for an LSD for me. Hope this helps.

just get an LSD and never look back.. don't think about dialing back your torque, imagine being able to put that power down from a dig, torque is king for our cars..

I'm currently wrestling with the decision to go LSD or not. The cheapest price I can get for a stock gearing of 3.08 is 3k. Thats a lot of scratch no matter how you slice it. I already have decently sticky summer performance tires. I don't want to get a tune without an LSD since the extra power won't be put the ground as best it could. I wish we all had bolted diffs. Those 2007 guys are damn lucky.

Not all 2007 guys are lucky... I am 05/2007 so I don't have to buy the complet set too...

3K is a LOT! I will have to wait for a while before jumping into the LSD then...

well if your talking about traction problem off the line, sorry the LSD simply won't help much.
