Garage Floor Ideas Needed
I cleaned out my garage and organized everything, I mean everything. I bought a triple wall cabinate jjust for my detailing goods. I want some Garage Floor Coating Ideas..... I saw the stuff at lowes that you paint on to the garage floor to make it look good, it is grey and then you put down sprinkle things before it dries....anyone use this stuff? I want something nice that cleans up easy. This stuff was pretty cheap and since I only have a one car garage in my townhome I figure there would be some extra left over for a second coating later down the line.

Nice thanks. I've read alot about the quikrete product, has gotten some nice reviews. My floor is fairly clean and dust free so it should be a pretty easy job. From what I have read the quikrete also does not lift or peel from hot tires like some other Epoxy products. I'll also prob top off with some clear epoxy for some additional shine, we'll see how it turns out. I'll get picts tonight for some before / after comparisons.

I had mine done. It ended up costing about $750 to do a two car garage. The company that did it guarantees it for 8 years not to peel or chip. It took them two days to do the coating. First day they cleaned the floor and applied a primer. Second they they applied the coating. They add sand in the final coat so that it is not slippery. Then you need to let it dry 4-5 days.
I have had friends that did their own garage floors with mixed results. Half of them have had problems with peeling. It has alot to do with the prep work. |

I preped mine tonight spent about 3 hours, and I have a one car garage.... at first I didn't think it was really that dirty, I swept it out about 3 times and shop vac'd the crap out of it.... then after applying the etching solution and scrubbing with a hard bristle brush you really can see the dirt and oils that come up which you wouldn't have thought were there. I can see how if this step is skipped you can run into problems later down the line. Anyway for reference...here are the before shots....

I had to use acid to prep the floor before adding the final layer!

looks great -- I have that same 2 door rolling cart from California Closets.
I used the stuff from Home Depot (I believe it was from Rust-o-leum) on our garage floor. It held up fine for the first 4-5 years. It's now been 7 years and it needs to be redone.

I do like the carts, they give you a little work bench area in the garage. |
