Lawyers...question for you.
Someone I know just got indicted by a grand jury for 4 counts of mail fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
I will be vague because I don't want this showing up in a google search but basically, he and an accomplice stole half a million dollars from their employee by cooking the books. Will he do time? Looks like the company wants the dough back naturally and the max penalty is 20 years on each count. I'm sure he will lose his house as he probably spent it What say you legal eagles?

I don't know if they'll do time, but it would depend on a LOT of factors, including whether this is their first offense, whether they plead, and how many counts of which he /she is found guilty. Those are federal crimes (federal prison). Not candy coating it, but US attorneys don't mess around after they indict you. Also, assuming your buddy is also from MD, that would land him in the 4th circuit, which is not known for being very liberal on crime. If found guilty, I would expect there to be some prison time involved.
Stealing from employees is usually frowned upon by society...LOL.
