I was pulling up to my gf's house in queens when i get pulled over by LE (literally in front of her house... Just my luck).

They stopped me since my tints were too dark (they had a tint meter and everything). The officers gave me two tickets, one for each front window. Now, i have a jersey license/plates/registration. Are they allowed to give me tickets for equipment violations? I understand that the tint laws are similar, but at the same time, what if i were from PA? I assumed that because i was from a different state, equipment violations were out of their jurisdiction.

any info on this would be helpful. I dont mind paying for the tickets if i did something wrong, but i just wanted to make sure before i took any further action.

If the ticket is less then $100 which I think it is, just pay it...
Time is money, its easier just to pay the ticket... then to spend 3-4hrs in court..
I would only go to court if moving violation points were involved.

From my understanding legally speaking NY police cannot give you a tint ticket if your car is registered and you are licensed outside of NY...
Now the gray area is the fact that the state (NJ) which you are registered and licensed has basically the same laws regarding tint...

If you have the time you can go to court ask to speak to the prosecutor and state your case see if he'll do anything for you... See what he says at worst you spent some time and have to pay the fine...

yea, i have CT plates/reg/license and i have received numerous tint tickets. once for going 90+ in a 45 zone (pba card saved me, and the tickets never made it to the system) and another time just for having the tints. The cop basically checked the regulations for tints in the state of CT on his phone and wrote the ticket. I pulled the PBA after he wrote it because he said he will just check the license, w/e .Both times the tint reader read 15% and i paid 90 dollars for one drivers side tint ticket. no points, and its not a moving violation.

it should be just 1 ticket, not 2, and no way to beat it because its illegal in your state as well.
if you were reg. in say, pa, they cant ticket you for it

^ you get 2 tickets. one for the front drivers and pass. side, and 1 for the rear driver and passengers sides. I paid $400 for my tint tickets 75 a window plus court fees and wut not was a total of 400. I have pba card and have family friends that are officers but his guy was stickler and took my license and reg before i could even tell him about the pba card and what not.
