Makes mine sound a lot better...but then I've heard '07 E92s are a little louder than the later models to begin with. Certainly worth the 2 minutes it takes to do it.

yeah, why not... doesn't cost anything and the low rpm tone is pretty nice.

I did the pinch clamp version. Arguably even easier (if that's possible) than unplugging the cord (shadow codes! run away!!!) and certainly easier (not to mention 3000x less ghetto) than stuffing a golf tee or ball bearing into the hose.
Clamp for loud; unclamp for quiet. Couldn't be easier. Btw I like the flap open - I have a 6MT and I get a lot more of that snort/gurgle/rumble that you get when you let off the gas that way. PS this isnt really a "OMG DO I OR DON'T I" question. It's not even really a mod. Just sack up and try it.

Unplug that cable behind the driver side tail light takes less than a minute to do.

Try it out, if you dont like it, just plug the connector back in... The only thing it does is make your car louder during start up...
After the car is warmed up it makes no difference in sound since the flap opens anyways. It will not make one bit of difference as far as performance is concerned. |

it does make a diff. when you cruise @ lower rpms the flap closes..so it is a bit louder, but not that much. But thats not me saying it, my wifey noticed it when i had to plug it back in for dealer visits.

I put a ball bearing in the tube. Takes 2 mins to put in and 1 minute to push out. I have an 07 e92 and it made it pretty loud during startup and seems a little louder while driving as well (maybe I am hearing things). But when my software got updated recently to 2.38 and now it seems too loud for some reason so I took out the ball bearing. But it is quick to put on and take off so worth it to try. These are personal opinions so you might like the sound more than I do.

ummmm
the car shouldve never had this flap put on the exhaust in the first place. unplug the tube from the muffler plug the hose with something and stick it up behind something. I even leave this mode on when getting work done at the dealer. unless you are a grampa you should do it so your e9x sounds the way it should

It changes the exhaust sound, that's for sure. But it causes some droning effect which will make you undo it after a few days.
By the way, do it this way, it's much simpler: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80661
