I have been comparing the M mobiltiy kit to the ContiComfort kit for some time. There seems to be a huge advantage to the M Mobility kit and that is it uses a separate line for the latex sealant.

Both systems need replacement parts after use obviously. But the difference is that the M Mobility kit has a hose that plugs straight into a tire or canister, and another hose that goes from the canister to the tire. The compressors air hose never gets coated.

So wether you use the sealant or not, you always have a fully functional compressor. The sealant isn't always guaranteed to work so it might be nice to still use the compressor to just get some more air in or for the next backup, an $8 plug kit thrown in the trunk.

I may be wrong about the conticomfort kit (I do not own one). The replacement parts kits do come with new sealant, adapter, and hose. However, the sealant flows through the same air hose that is used if you were just using it as a standalone compressor.

I mentioned before the M Mobility Kit and The ContiComfort kit both use latex sealant which is a plus for them.

why mobility over conti though? other than the separate hose...

conti kit has a led light too... the hose getting latex on it is no biggie since if your tire is messed up anyways so what if u get a little latex in it?

how about Slime kit or just a couple of cans of fix-a-flat (which uses latex type stuff now too that you can wash out) and a pump?

KevE90zsp explained it well. By being separate, you can always use the compressor hose to just put air in a low tire, vs. the the shared hose.

Dude, it's not like pulling teeth right? If you don't appreciate what the M kit offers, don't buy it, get what you want!

You can get it online from Circle BMW or other places. Part number has been posted if you need to refer to it.

If this is true, why not buy a few cans of fix a flat and a good quality compressor? I think the replacements for the Conti kit and M mobility were relatively expensive.

Previously, I went for fix-it-flat + cheap compressor which works fine. However, as mentioned in my recent post, I am annoyed that the gauge is inaccurate and not repeatable, so I have to overfill and then iterate with a separate tire gauge. Ok, so I'm lazy.

I would be willing to spring the extra $ if someone could confirm that I could do away with my tire gauge and simply use the mobility kit for filling air.

Side note: Fix-it-flat comments about flammability risk, I wonder if the latex used in these kits is any safer?

Comments?

Do you mean, you want to make sure that the M mobility kit has an accurate gauge so you don't have to hold a separate tire pressure gauge in your hand. You can definitely use the kit as a standalone compressor. Not sure how accurate the gauge is or how accurate ANY gauge will stay over time. I always fill all tires then use a seperate gauge to get the pressures all right.

About flammability risk. I'm too lazy to find out and don't think i'll find a clear or unbiased answer. Maybe the M mobility kit has these same risks. I'm just going with the M mobility kit because I believe it won't damage any tire sensors and shouldn't be too much of a hastle/danger for a shop to service as long as I tell them ahead of time I have used the sealant.

I bought one of these kits and the quality is excellent. The gauge seems to be very accurate too.

As back-up I also bought a can of sealant.

I dont think I am sold on the M kit over the Conti Kit. I think I am going to go ContiComfortKit b/c it's half the price and has a LED light etc... it uses latex like the M kit and won't ruin TPM sensors...

This has probably been covered, but can someone comment about what is the risk to the TPM sensors we're concerned about and/or how is this risk avoided?

Do you guys also buy the kits to plug tire from the outside? For anyone that does this, any comments on whether this makes patching at the tire shop any issue?

Regarding my previous comments: Yes, I wanted to have a kit that didn't require use of my separate tire gauge. I would also suspect that all of these gooey sealants pose similar flammability risks, but don't know for sure.

I quickly realized that the sealant had apparently congealed asymmetrically, because there was a terrible vibration at just above 60 mph. (I noticed it was a little smoother at 80 mph but I didn't dare risk high-speed travel
Quote from the article linked above. Back in the day... I think with the fix a flat, the instructions were to drive a certain distance at a certain rate of speed to "spread" the product in the wheel. Also why didn't the guy just use the compressor on the M mobility kit to pump up the tire? Aren't there instructions on those things?
