Need to upgrade stock angels/

I know this has been covered so many times,
But i wanted to know what the difference is between hid angel eyes and led angel eyes?

Which are the brightest?
Is Lux 8 the brightest led bulb?

What would you recommend for a e92.

Thanks

One uses an HID/Xenon kit to power the rings while the other is LED based.

yes i know that, i mean what is the difference between the two?
As in which is best etc. Why do people choose hid over led and vice versa.

Thanks

HID is brighter per se, but there is the risk of the inner ring being so bright that it takes on a "blob effect." HIDs also require separate ballasts to compensate for how much power is going to them. Because of this, the install doesn't look as clean, because you will have grounding wires and ballasts coming out of the lamp assembly. With HID AEs you will also have bit more options with regards to color of the AEs, from white, bluish white, blue and purple.

LED based are just what it sounds like, it is a light emitting diode that will light up the rings. The install looks more clean, because you just pop the LED in the place of the H8 bulb, no extra wires or anything. With LED AEs you run more of a risk of the rings not lighting up properly, somewhat of a BMW design defect. GPthunders although cheap, maybe $20 will definitely get rid of the yellow stock AE look, but the rings won't light up evenly. The LUX Aes, around $200 are insanely bright, and fill both rings pretty well. You do have some color options as well.

They are a bit different, so look at more pics to decided what you like best. hope that helps

Looking at the pictures, they dont look very bright in the day.
Maybe Alpine Hid will be better,

Does anyone from the U.k know if these will fail the mot?

Thanks

I just got rid of my LED's for a set of Alpine HID's. The LED's looked great at dusk/dawn, but during the day weren't really visible. A friend of mine has HID's and they look amazing during the day.

The only thing about the HIDs is that at night, they are SO bright that the ring becomes almost blurry, you honestly can not look directly at it. You can drive at night with just your AE's on and see the road as if your headlights were on.

Overall, I like the HIDs much better.

Hope that helps.

Not looking to hijack the thread, but also looking to upgrade the AE's, tho I'm looking for more of a "stock" look. Just dropped my 07 e90 off at the dealer and the gave me a 2011 e92, noticed they now have LED AE's from the factory, white/blue in color (same color as the outer door handle lights). Any input on what I should be looking for? Def looking for brighter than the stock yellow look, and whiter, basically exactly what I saw on the new e92's would be prefect, but know it can not be retrofitted to the e90. And not looking for intense brightness at all.

Any good?
