Lol ok well my sis wants a deeper tone on her 09 e60 535i but with stock looks, so i looked around found the "golf tee" mod and i was thinking bout unhooking her pipes so she could get an idea if she were to go straight pipes. that didnt work couldnt get to the bolts lmao. so i went with the golf tee mod.

Anything i did the valve wont stay open...

I tried

Golf Tee Mod Zip Tie
Golf Tee Mod Zip Tie & Unplugged the wire in the trunk
Golf Tee Mod Screw


None of these seem to keep the valve open, and only way i got to heard the mod was me opening the valve manually and telling sis to rev. It was a slightly deeper tone but yea.

What can i do about the valve... it wont stay open

get a muffler delete for $100 and see if she likes it.

No i can open the valve by my hand, but when i do the mod it doesnt open when i rev it unless i push it open.

Mineke, Tell them you want to cut the mufflers and put a straight pipe. But some new exhaust tips or use the oem ones. It should cost anywhere from $100-150 anything more than that you getting ripped off.

get a turndown tip too. looks ugly but sounds better

Take your car in for a scan and see if the valve is stuck and not opening. If so, problem solved.

The "golf tee mod" and its derivatives are kind of pointless. I tried it and didn't notice a difference, then I found out that the valve is only closed for the first couple of minutes after starting the car. Seems like a an unecessary complication and waste of weight to me. What would be cool would be to rig it up as a muffler bypass for BOTH sides, and have it open up when whenever you floor it.

taking it up to bmw would be a hassle so i guess ima just leave it how it is now.
