Engine always hot..

I have a 08 335xi and I noticed my engine is always hot. It was hot today in Chicago and I have been driving all day. Its nice and cool now at night but my garage feels like a sauna from car. I parked it over 3 hours ago and the hood stlll is extremely hot. Is this normal?

yeah dude, if you think about it there is quite a bit of aluminum and steel that retains heat. And being in a garage with probably very little airflow or fresh air just doesn't speed up the cool down process.

Normal. Works out good in the winter, keeps my garage warm for a few hours after I pull in

These new engines run HOT, and they like it that way... In any other car I owned before if the oil temp was sitting at 260-270 something was gonna break! BMW says anything under 300 is "normal"

The extra heat combined with the newer cars not having any hood heat shielding makes for a warm hood for hours after a drive.

We need to remember that oil temp will be a loy hotter than coolant temp. Our cars display oil, most others display coolant

my '99 M3 w an aftermarket turbo which is oil cooled runs around 200-210 MAX oil temps. I feel much more comfortable with those temps.

upper 200's is pushing your oil big time IMO. but i'm not an oil engineer I guess.

I'm sure the BMW engineers have this figured out. I gather they aren't too concerned about anyones comfort level when it comes to engine building.

Your car may be dehydrated. Coconut water may help.

Its actually normal for almost any turbo car to radiate a ton of heat after its off. It seems this one especially.

Try back your car into your garage and leave the garage door open for a little while.

Thats what I do to solve the problem (if you consider it a problem; which it's not, especially in the winter.)

You're still learning that internal combustion engines get hot?
