BT Coding Injectors

FYI, I just heard back from Duram that the BT interface will soon (2 - 3 months) support coding of the injectors. Meaning, you will be able to replace them at home if need be. BavTech originally did it for the diesel market but now that they know the structure of the alphanumeric code, will be able to add it in for us with the N54, etc.

Yes, but unsure of version compatibility at this time. In other words, like many of the options, some only work in the Pro version. For me, this is a non-issue as I have the Pro version.

Outstanding. I have written them about this at least once, and urged others to email as well. I have the enthusiast version and hope it will work with that version.

Thanks for the update! Looks like injectors are about $130ea at Tischer. I think that's a little less than they were some time ago.

Hi Scott,

Thank you for contacting Bavarian Technic. There are no plans to include that ability in the product as of now, but it is very possible that we will add it to a future release.

Hello,

Wondering if you will eventually include the ability to code new fuel injectors for the direct injection system? Seems like the direct injectors are notorious for going bad and it would be fantastic to be able to DIY for replacement and avoid a dealer trip.

Thanks,
Scott

That is great news!!! I hope they don't cheap us and only allow this for the pro. Other companies are working on this, so I sincerely hope they realize this needs to be included with all BTs versions.

Technically, they can. You just cannot alter the code. But you can back up yours if needed and re-write it from what I understand.

But also remember that they suggest replacing all in that bank. So if one fails, it is suggested to replace three. However, once we start doing this we should be able to test this suggestion.

Quite possibly but I have not tried it.

http://www.bavariantechnic.com/Coding.aspx

Does require the Pro version though.

Back-up and restore!
Easily save control unit code information to a backup file on your computer.
Use the saved file to restore code information to a new control unit.
Replace control units quickly and easily.
Manually edit code information on a block by block basis.
Set popular, basic coding options via the Options screen.
Edit Car Key Memory (CKM) and Customer Individualization and Programming (CIP) information.

The MSD80/81 does show as being supported.

Scal, thanks for that tid bit of info, but it looks like it's limited to individual control units like "lighting" or "instrument cluster" etc....I am curious if it can actually backup the actual DME and make sure that it can retain its relationships to the many other individual control units?

Looking at this:

http://www.bavariantechnic.com/model...atrix.aspx#e90

It shows the MSD80/81 which is the DME. I may try to make a back up just to see what it does. But I don't think I am brave enough yet to reload.

But if the backup works I may try and find a totaled car's DME and hook it up and reload. That would be a fun test.

Hmmm maybe someone who works at dealership could let us borrow one they pulled out of a Powerkit Upgrade to an MSD80 car....This would be very interesting info for forum members i would think.

We could also just call up the guys at BavTech, that would probably be easier

There is only one special tool and that is only needed if the injector is stuck. The removal, if not stuck, is pretty easy and uses common hand tools. But like always, fuel is involved and care should be taken.
