Question Bluetooth Question, I searched 1st too..

I have a NEW HTC Incredible by verizon and it has Bluetooth but even the BMW site says that bluetooth only will work on models built AFTER sept. 2006 and mine was built in March of 2006.

Before I go digging into a way to maybe skirt this issue, does anyone know if it is even WORTH it?

PS for any owners who have a Droid phone when using the Navigation the holder square behind the shifter (non I Drive) works good. It falls out of cup holder and I want to see if bluetooth will work good before shelling out the $40 on the holder that sucks to the front windshield.

PS Please move if this is in wrong forum mods.

Thanks,

(yes, this thread should be moved....)

Are you asking if your car has bluetooth?

I would think that the way to check is to see if you can get the "Phone" menu on the radio (or I suppose on iDrive if you have that) and if so, is there a "Bluetooth" option on that. One needs to go through those menus in order to pair a phone to the car, and I would have to imagine that the menus (particularly the Bluetooth menu) don't show up if your car doesn't have bluetooth.

^^ thanks for replying I do not have I drive, I dont have premium system and I heard that Normal BMWs that do not have I Drive, even though I have the buttons and mic I dont have bluetooth?

I have a telephone option on my professional phone but I do not know if it is functional.

If I turned on Bluetooth on my 2.2 droid would the car see it, so to speak?

No, you will not see your car. The pairing must be initiated on the car side. Meaning your phone has to be in listen mode.

Is it worth it?

Or should I not even bother and just pick up the phone when it rings?

Let it ring if you don't have handsfree (and maybe even if you do).

But I still don't actually understand your question. Did you press the phone button on your headunit? And when you do, do you have a menu option for bluetooth? ("BT" on my headunit)? If you don't, you don't have bluetooth. If you do...you probably do. Try to pair the phone?

And what do you mean "Is it worth it?" Do you mean is it worth installing a retrofit?

My M was built in 8/06 and it had bluetooth and it works, so if yours has it, it should work.

If you are driving, you should not pick up the phone; let it go to voice mail.

There should be a soft key for the phone. If you don't have a phone setup in the menus, then you cannot do it.

If there is a button, you press it, set your phone to bluetooth sync, and then the radio will ask for a passkey if it syncs up.

thanks for all the help guys, Just another thing I do "not" have that the dealer told me I did when I purchased it last year. Like the Stainless steel exhaust that I was told my 06 325xi has STOCK.

Which to this day I get conflicting results if the OEM is or isnt SS. I think I will just take a magnet out to it one day.
