Mtec Led Angel Eyes V2 E90 Pre LCI Problem

Installed my Mtec LED angel eyes V2.1 on my E90. Install was preety easy and they look great.

Only problem is the passenger side outer ring is brighter than the driver side outer ring. It's a very noticable difference. The inner rings are perfect.

When I was installing the driver side, I moved/pulled on the BMW halo bulb around quite a bit because for some reason I thought I was suppose to remove it. Realized I was wrong...

I'm thinking that the Mtec LED is not aligned exactly with the 2 stems of the BMW halo bulb so the light is not being completely refracted. I don't think its the Mtec LED (didn't touch the LED). Ordered from F1 Autohaus. I suppose I could switch the 2 to narrow down the problem but first wanted to get some input. Anyone else have a similar problem?

On a "brighter" note, I also installed the Mtec license plate LED and it looks awesome. Super bright...

I had a similar problem on mine....
In fact I hadn't place the angel eyes holder correctly with the two angel eyes bars (you can notice when you remove the black older that there are 2 transparant bars coming from the inside of the headlight, these are the one that bring the light to the ring). If the 2 are not crrectly in the holder you will necessarily have a noticable bright difference.

Hope it will help you

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking the problem is. Won't be able to fix it until Wed so I'll post the results after.

Had the same problem with mine (not from F1) and haven't been able to have it switched out yet. Should be done by end of the week.

Just installed mine and wow, what an improvement over stock. Very bright and defined! Actually I'd say its the perfect brightness (at least at dusk)... I can't wait to see them during the day. I'm expecting them to be noticeable but not super bright.

Of course I read this thread before I installed them, so I immediately thought, great, the passenger outer ring is brighter than the drivers side. After driving around briefly with them on, it is much less noticeable than at first. I think I need a second opinion, lol.

My question for those who had the problem: was is obvious or was the difference in brightness very subtle?

Mine was VERY obvious. Post a pic and I can tell you if they look OK or not.

Mine was very subtle at first but then eventually one of the rings went completely out. Each unit has 2 leds and one of the leds went out, which makes sense. Mike from F1 Autohaus told me he would send me a return shipping label and replace the light but has yet to do it, and this was 2 weeks ago. He doesn't even answer my emails....

Yeah, I was gonna buy from him but he never responded to PM's or Emails through his site... Went through Ebay for slightly better price anyway.

Both LEDs light up fine, I'll post pics later on.

Alright, snapped a pic with my Iphone to show what I'm talking about. The passenger side is a bit brighter IMO. It's bugging me, but don't know if it is worth going through the hassle of taking it out, sending it back, and taking everything apart again to put a new one in... Thoughts? Keep in mind the camera does exaggerate things just a bit, but to me the difference is noticeable.

Fiddle with the exposure though, and you can't really tell at all... The actual difference is somewhere in between pic 1 & pic 2.

FYI

Just a heads up for anyone having this issue... While I thought it was the LED unit, I was wrong. Last night I swapped a new one in and had the same issue. I then realized that the AE ring itself wasn't sitting in the black holder properly that the LED unit mounts to. I reseated the black holder piece, put the LED unit back in and it was good to go! Hope this helps someone else as it was a little frustrating for a few days.

Thanks for the input.

I think at some point I will go back in and swap the sides. I'll make sure everything is sitting right and if I can still notice anything I'll send them back. I don't think it will come to that though, I'm sure its just a very minor misalignment... The difference is barely noticeable.

I do believe I have fixed my bulb alignment issue... in indirect sun they look perfect now! Definitely glad I went with the MTECs! I'm not sure what the problem was, I think the ends of the fiber optics weren't aligned in the black holder correctly. I took it all out and put it all back in a bit more 'carefully' and here are the results:

Looks Great!

Which method did you use to turn off your parking lights? Rewire? Programming?
