Speakers/sound experts chime in please...

I'm looking to buy 2 speakers for my karaoke system. There are just too many options out there so I don't even know which speakers to choose. My budget is $500 or less. I don't want to spend the money on Bose or JBL speakers that run in the thousands. Advice/opinion appreciated!

Goddamn so true. One time I went to my friends house. Her family (of like 20 asians) were all downstairs singing karaoke and playing poker

Bose isn't terrible, but it's definitely not worth the price, unless you really care that much about having Bose on your speakers. It's impressive to people who don't know much about audio, but I hardly know much and know this (of course I figured it out the hard way - anyone wanna buy some Bose Tri-Port headphones

i dont know what kind of set up you want to do but this is what my brother has for his band... it should also work for a karaoke system.

it is powered, portable, it takes an ipod, it has more than enough inputs. you can have your friends sing along with you.

you might want to get a stand for it if you will get it.

hope that helps.. oh.. dont expect pro audio quality from this but this should be good enough for karaoke purposes.

Are you going to be listening to any music on them?

Do looks matter?

Do you need a sub?

I've been researching them and wasn't sure if I need powered speakers. I saw speakers specifically made for karaoke-ing on acekaraoke.com and they are reasonably priced. I just want a pair of speakers that sound good for live sound. Obviously I don't want to spend a fortune on them. I also don't really care what they look like.
