full bolt on stage 3
What do people mean when they say full bolt on stage 3?
i see some people say its just jb3, dci, intercooler, and downpipes some say that list plus meth and some say that list plus meth and charge pipe so what really is a full bolt on stage 3 335i? |

I was under the impression that Stage 3 was intake, turboback (DPs+aftermarket exhaust), intercooler, tune. Meth is Stage 3+meth, and charge pipe has no bearing on stage, since it's not really a power adder (it can prevent power loss and blowoff at high psi, but that doesn't count as adding power).

Are you running stock FMIC and piping? Just use a t-bolt clamp to seal up the boost leak if you can find out where it is comming from, not all cars running higher boost with stock pipes have boost leaks. When I was stock FMIC and tuned I had a boost leak because I blew off the piping going into my FMIC. Later on, with full mods on, I blew off my charge pipe from the FMIC. So there are lots of places you can get boost leaks from, just have to do detective work.
IMO, full bolt on Stage 3 is FMIC, intake, DP, Exhaust, Meth, CP but who really cares what "stage" you run.

Boost leaks could be many other places besides the DVs. The charge pipe itself won't leak, it would pop off. Clamps and such leak. You have to build and test for boost leaks, not just throw parts at it and hope it works.

Stage 3 is faster than Stage 2, must be better in every way!
I think you have to many Honda/Subaru/Mitsu/Yota friends. Just keep adding mods as your wallet allows and don't worry about stages. Ive done DCI/PE EX/JB3/Charge Pipe/Black Lines/Spoiler/DP/SW and I don't know what stage I'm on. Question is, who the f%$k cares what stage I'm on? I guess I could tell my friends I'm on stage 2.7? I'd rather just get to a deserted road and roll on 40 with them and show them what stage I'm on... WTF... Like I said, You have to many er..."ricer" friends that buy things in stages. |
