Car smokes when in limp mode..
I drive a 135i fully catless with a PROcede,
Recently when the car goes into limp mode (a vanos issue) alot of smoke comes out the exhaust with a burning smell. Any input would be great, is this normal??? It's never been like this before. Thanks |

Nope.. Not normal. I suggest getting your vanos issue sorted out by the dealership as that is a known issue with these engines. Also catless cars will smoke alarmingly if even the slightest amount of oil makes it's way into the exhaust. And some turbos naturally burp more oil than others. Especially after hard runs. Usually it's caused by a semi-clogged oil drain line or leaky seals in the turbos. In these cases, a catchcan can be a useful mod.
