Another xDrive dropped on KW V1 with 19" RGR
I installed the KW V1s this past weekend and fitted my 19" BBS RGR tonight. I'm happy with the ride quality. The rear no longer feels like it's floating. I was worried that it wouldn't be stiff enough, but it's just right, not bone jarring. Better pics to come.
Slightly better pic. Last edited by Laguna3; 09-17-2010 at 08:42 AM.. |

Like I said in the spotter's thread, your car is hot. I was admiring the drop when I was behind you.
I'm actually glad that you replied to the spotter's thread, as I wanted to ask about the ride quality. I'd love a ride-along at some point to see what the ride is like, if you're up for it?

Looks hot. Kudos for diy.
Its not till after the drop on an xi that you realize how bad that gap is in the front. You could easily shove a fist in there. |

Laguna: you're car looks great! Thanks for posting the pic.
I recently got a 2011 335i xDrive E90 LCI and I've read through the posts and KW V1's are the coils to get I believe! I noticed you're from Toronto. Can you tell me where I can get them from and approximately how much you paid?? Thanks very much!! Soh |

i had the kw v1 with the stock 17 inch runflats. the ride was GOD awful. i always blamed the suspension, but in reality it was those god damn 17 inch run flats.
i have 17 inch snow tires on now, and the ride is SO amazing. I would love to go back to KW v1 one day! but will prob go with a nice shock + spring combo when the shocks go - im at 35k miles - prob do a full refresh at 75k miles. -p

I can't tell from the pic but do you have a gap at all in the fronts? I'm on 19x8.5 ET 35 in the front, and I have maybe a quarter of an inch gap that I want to close but my installer seems to think if I go any lower on the KW, it will rub. How low did you go?

I have about a 1/4" gap as well with about 1/2" more to go on the adjusters. I'd like to get rid of the gap, so I'll probably adjust it when it gets warmer up here.
No special tools needed aside from the spring compressor. Just pay attention to the order of the components when you put them back together. It took me about 5-6 hrs, because the car was only 1 week old and I didn't want to scratch or break clips of sort, specially in the trunk. The KWs are much more responsive compared to ZSP due to stiffer springs and shocks. |

Yes, I'm currently on the OEM wheels with RFTs until I get new tires for the BBS. I will be going the non-RFT route.
There is a very noticeable difference between the two due to the stiffer walls on the RFT, but the RFTs are tolerable with KW V1. What size wheels are you running? |
