Installing back on the OEM suspension

Hi guys,

Is the washer in the picture part of the OEM suspension? My FK coilover went back and I installed the original back on with the washer in the picture goes in between the Upper Strut Mount and the car frame. Im getting noises when going over the bump and the car now sit higher. Thanks

Doesn't look like any part in the OEM diagram is similar to the washer you're pointing to.

+1 - I just had my suspension apart and while there is a paper gasket that goes between the strut bearing/top hat there is no separate steel space (at least on my 2008 335i E92).

That in fact is a spacer that goes on top of the top hats, I just did myself suspension work installing lowering perches in my 2008 e92.

Funny, my 2008 E92 had the paper washer/gasket but no flat steel spacer in the same shape of that washer/gasket... I also show no such part in the exploded diagram in my Bentley manual.

That part was not present on my e90.....it looks like an aftermarket universal type part with all of the holes and I am guessing it was for use only with the coilovers...

#6 is a wafer thin gasket type ring if I'm not mistaken, not a thick spacer like part.

Yep - #6 is a paper gasket not a metal spacer. Looks in shape like what the OP shows but is paper none the less.

That is an OEM spacer.

I have that on my car as well. The holes on that spacer are there in case you need to make adjustments with the alignment pin.

That spacer goes with the car and not the aftermarket suspension

I have those black spacer rings on my 07 335i, so yes they're OEM.

Speaking of that paper gasket, what is it for? It was a real pain to reuse, getting it seating properly was a challenge when re-installing the struts. Anti-squeak I assume?
