"Unfortunately our Parrot interfaces do not work with the Prologic7 system. Regards Connects2 Technical" ![]() Last edited by Markt; 01-22-2007 at 04:35 PM.. |

my point is that having the logic7 makes it almost impossible to connect through plug&play. The problem is that sound is NOT available in most case. there is a solution available that i have installed now and it works with parrot (i have the ck3000 installed) and will also work with nokia carkits!!! i'm planning on putting the full info here in a few days |

Looking forward to the solution!
Hopefully it doesn't add too much to the cost of the ck3000 + connects2 setup. Personally, I would spend the $750+ on the BMW system if they had a unit that works with voice commands in english, but from everything I have read this doesn't exist today. What kills me is that the non working solution proudly displayed in all the accessory catalogs at the dealership. Can anyone tell me the differences between BMW and parrot/connects2 solutions? From what I can tell so far, the major difference is that the phone book and call display is not displayed on the radio and you don't get any voice commands with the parrot/connects2. I could live with that. I really doubt I would look through my phone book while driving. I mainly just use voice dialing of a few numbers with my headset now. Call display would be nice though. Here are a bunch of burning questions I have... What happens when you press the phone button on the steering wheel? Does it activate voice commands of the parrot? Does the parrot have text to speech of your address book? What happens when you have an incoming call? Does the phone pair automatically to the parrot everytime you enter the car? What happens if you are already on the phone with a bluetooth headset and then you start driving the car? Does it switch to the parrot automatically? What happens if your radio is turned off? (What does the OEM BMW system do if the radio is off and you get a call?) Can I pair more than one phone to the parrot? If my wife and I are both in the car with phones paired to the parrot what happens if we both get calls? How is the phone pairing priority decided? I appreciate any help with the questions. I realize the parrot manual might answer a few of them. |

![]() It is a pity, that there is no posiblity to see adress book on radio screen. That the worst thing in Parrot CK3000, but the voice commands are really helpful. |

Thanks for answering all my questions. It sounds like a pretty good setup.
I am still unclear on how the voice commands for the address book contacts work. Do you have to record the name yourself for each contact or does the parrot have text to speech built in? By one of your answers I suspect you have to acutally record the name. Is there any way to make the parrot default to the phone's voice commands? When I press the button on my bluetooth headset it is the phone that says, "Say a command". It'd be good if the parrot could just broadcast the phone's voice command to the speaker. Thanks again for answering the questions. I sound like I am interigating you, but I really want to get this all figured out. ![]() |

@Rufio:
Could you confirm that you have the "normal" sound system and NOT the prologic7? ![]() I also think that you are using the steering wheel module from Connects2. Can you tell us what config and parts from what manufacturer you are using? ================================ @Robray: I got my parts at Siocommunications.co.uk For a clean complete install with a parrot300CK you WILL need these parts: 06-903B 06-427B 06-Sense Please see the site for more info on actual prices. I did pay around £140, but this includes two shipments and a wrong part ordered by me for a total amount of £25. So if i ordered in one time I would have paid around £125 for the parts including shipment. I honestly don't know the price, but try to email or search the site for details on this. If you exclude any of these parts you will have difficulty installing. Believe me!!! It took me a long time to figure all this out and I strongly believe that this is the best price-quality you can get at this time!!!! I also have used connectors from "Kram" but was disappointed to learn that fitting the parrot on the head unit will not do the trick. There is no way the sound will be routed to your car speakers. The adapter I mentioned is the only one that I know of which will route the sound to your car speakers. It also has it's own hardware to mute the sound and route the sound of the telephone call to your car speakers. It won't need you to hardwire anything!!! so if the dealer will try to hold you responsible for any failure in the system just remove the cable connection and let them convince you again that your car kit is causing problems ![]() I like the fact that it is all working without paying any dealer a load of money. Getting the thing in the car without any experience. But most of all..... I installed the parrot out of sight .... ...don't need the fugly thing... ![]() Last edited by Markt; 03-26-2007 at 03:23 PM.. Reason: grammar changes |

![]() What config are you talking about? To robray: Voiceprints works only on certain phones (according to user's guide ) Caller ID works only with Sony Ericcson. And you can also use 2 phones on one parrot set at the sime time. The frst connected phone is the main phone (it works also with Sony Ericsson) Last edited by Rufio; 03-26-2007 at 04:08 PM.. Markt, are going add any more info on your setup? Do you have any pictures of the install?
Were you able to get steering wheel controls? If you hide the parrot then how do you make and receive calls? When you are using the phone does you radio say telephone on it? I am a little confused. |

I did it in Aug. works great except volume control only compatible with 3000 evo. You will need to add couple additional cables if you buying in EU. See http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...t=26682&page=3 PS: I got extra adapter (w/ 3100) cables, PM if you interested. |

Plz guys save your advise on parts for NON Logic7 setup for another Thread!
The connects2 and other manufacturers DO NOT support Logic7 The parts that I have suggested are at the moment the only way tot go if you want plug and play and parrot or Nokia carkit installed with your Logic7 system I now have installed at this moment the only possible (cheap) solution through siocommunications webshop as there is no one in the netherlands that can offer this. !!!Do not confuse this option with bluetooth prep!!! I have the carkit installed for almost a week now. When I get a call the radio mutes... there is no msg on the display and ayou can hear a ring-tone. I just pick up the phone look who is calling and decide to pick up or what ever. Making a call is the same as you would do normaly and every "beep" can be heard from the car speakers such as when scrolling names. Also the voice-dialing is initiated from my phone. So generally everything works just fine for me. |

btw:
the sound quality of the parrot is 100% You can hear the person calling very clearly and vice versa. I did have some consideration about the sound quality. As the installed cables are at the output of the amp there is no quality being lost. the sound of the radio and logic7 sound is perfect as before installing the parrot !!! :rocks: |

Ok, so I think I understand things a bit more. Thanks for all the explanations from everyone.
Markt, I wonder if you could connect the connects2 unit with the 06-903B, 06-427B and 06-Sense, to get the mute/telephone on the display feature and the steering wheel controls. I know you probably don't know, but it sounds like it could be possible. I wish I could get all the pieces in a pile and try them out. In terms of the install, was everything done in the dash area? |

Thx bmviz, I'm planning to install the Parrot CK3300 GPS in combo with the new Nokia N95 (build-in GPS). I hope the Parrot recognizes the spoken GPS-directions of the N95, maybe even displays arrows. I do not know, nobody can tell me... If not, I'd be better of with the Parrot CK3100. Works great as I understand. Would indeed be nice if steering-wheel button(s) work. |

@bmviz & @robray
I just did spend a load on just cables and will research the steering wheel and mute. As for the installation: The fitting of the cables is done at the back of the car at the end of the amp output. Then a cable is pulled through from the trunk to the front of the car. I put the parrot under the steering wheel compartment. I think that it is safe to put it here but am not totally happy with this. I plan on putting the parrot in the radio head unit compartment but do not have the time to do so yet. I think that this will be the best place to put it in. Also this location will be convenient for installing the mute and/or steering wheel hardware. I am looking for a sponsor to provide me with the steering wheel control hardware ... ![]() |

As we discussed in beginning of February, it should be doable by connecting to the amp in the trunk. If you don't have iDrive and you radio tuner in the dash, it easy to connect steering adapter there. I reviewed Parrot pinout drawing and I think that if you will keep the 06-903B and 06-427B leads connected to Parrot speaker output, you can connect the steering wheel adapter to the control and power plugs of the Parrot kit and eliminate the need for the 06-Sense cable. Let me know when you ready to attack this part and I would check how can I help you in regarding the Connects2 adapter. |
