Looking for some help/advice

Hello fellow members, just joined this site. Glad to be here.

Got a few questions to ask, I'm getting 2011 328xi (space grey ex/black dakota in) and was wondering..since it had RFT's..should I go for "tires & wheels" protection that is offered by BMW Canada? I will be leasing this car.

Also, anyone had a good experience with any of the GTA tire shops? Can RFT be fixed/patched?

Any issues with driving in the snow with all-season's?

I'm returning my 04 X5 and had 325i sport before.

Thanks in advance.

It really depends on what you plan to add or change on your car. I opted out of that and for me it was the good. I ended up changing out the wheels that came with the car anyway's, actualy I have two different sets of wheels since I sold my original ones. So that issue will determine what might do.

I got the tire and rim warranty... but I've never used it before. Sadly... waste. And I've only got like 4 months left on it.

But there are some members that have used it after a couple months of getting the car! So it's really luck of the draw whether you'll need it or not.

I use all seasons all year round on my car and the car drives great in the snow. No issues. I've never gotten stuck and I've never spun out of control... (unless it was intentional... )

hmm, thanks guys. I've been offered "wear and tear" protection being put in for 799 (security deposit being waved). It basically covers you up to $7500 in terms of any scratches for interior/exterior/rims). Also "tire/rim" protection for a grand. Since I got almost $6000 off I'm not sure if I should get sucked in

decisions..decisions..

I took the tire/rim and mine was $899 at the time. I've never used it.

I didn't take the wear and tear. Because you're allowed a certain amount of wear and tear anyways on the vehicle. Just nothing excessive. So unless you're driving on a construction site or don't care about your car, you're unlikely to ever use that too. Even rim curb rash is allowed upon lease return, as long as it's less than 3 inches(???). It says it in the booklet. But I have it at home.

I got the wheel & tire protection when I got my car. I believe it was around $700 at that time. So far I haven't had to use it, but after getting a flat on my last car only a few weeks after I got the car, I figured it was a good idea considering the cost of a replacement RFT.

I also drive on the stock all-season tires (Continentals on my car) and had absolutely no problems last winter.

in my view road hazzard protection is good idea for a big City like Toronto where you have construction year round on our roads. I've already replaced 4 tires.

excess wear insurance is only necessary if you are a woman. I bought it for my wife's Lexus and God knows, I'm going to need it and when we return the vehicle.... No offense to the female members here!!!

thanks MOAB, this car will be my daily driver but the wifey will use it some time as well I'm thinking since security deposit is getting replaced with "wear & tear" I might put it in (difference of $200 roughly).

Still not sure if I should spend extra $30 in monthly payments for "wheels and tires" protection

I`ve replaced two cracked 19`rims (due to pot holes) and 4 flat tires in two years. Was worth every penny to me but not sure if the smaller size rims and tires have less issues....

Trust me, hit a good size pot hole with 19`rims and you`ll be looking back to see if you left your wheels and suspension behind you on the road....
