Hi guys,
new member (be gentle). I am looking for some help ,I have a 59 plate 318d msport (first beemer) and was wondering what is involved in activating the phone set up and steering wheel controls? I believe some kind of module is req + the shark fin aerial. All help appreciated. Thanks in advance guys. Stevie. |

If you mean the BMW bluetooth installation, you don't actually need the shark fin as your phone is the signal receiver and, in saloons, the shark fin isn't installed when you specify bluetooth (unlike the coupe) but only with the sat nav option.
You appear to be talking about retro fitting the BMW bluetooth kit and I understand that, while it's possible, it is hugely expensive (over £1,000) Perhaps better to get an after market item like Parrot complete with the extra cable to allow the steering wheel phone button to work - much much cheaper and easier and it works with nearly every phone (unlike the BMW system.) The last non working button on the wheel is the voice command which, if it can be retro-fitted at all, would probably double the cost of the BMW bluetooth installation. |

Thanks for that ,I will probably look at the Parrott system although i didnt realise you could operate it via the steering wheel.
I appreciate the advice. Cheers Stevie. |
