Manhattan Self Park
After doing standard google searches, Google BMW Search in the car, even asking KGB, I'm still looking for a self-park in Manhattan.
I know for a fact that I have self parked in Manhattan before, I think somewhere near the Javits Center and also near MSG. I'd like to use this thread for people that know of reliable self-parks in Manhattan. I'm sick of spending $60 for valet for a few hours with the fear that they, or someone else will mess up my car. I appreciate the input! |

Across the street from Lucky Strike at W42nd street on West Side Highway... Pier 83 I believe, entrance is on 43rd. I had a monthly there for a while, self park and two outdoor "guards" at all times (indoor only during daytime). The indoor section has very tight spots (never used those), but outdoor is fine.

There is a automated one on Baxter street in Little Italy, its the new machine park ones, you drive onto a ramp and it takes your car into a holding cell.

There is one that I use right by the Jacob Javits Center, I think its on West 40th Street or nearby. I havent parked there in about a year but i felt much safer leaving my car there then at a garage with a valet.

Great - exactly what I want to do, pay an additional $20 above the $60 it's going to cost for them to park my car... At those prices I might as well keep my car 60 miles away and take amtrak, or even fly to New York every time. I want my car locked and I want my keys back, that's the point as well. |

Train doesn't help when you need to be in different parts - i.e. Manhattan, far rockaway, bk... and need to be away from the stations.
Sometimes unfortunately driving is the only answer. |

Get a cheap car that you don't mind them beating on?

true...i usually park in forest hills and take a train in if its during the day but at night ive yet to have a hard time finding parking in manhattan. Far Rockaway is a nightmare to drive through if your dropped and have nice wheels.

Its been proven over and over again. Take it from a person who has lived, breathed, worked, went to school, and still goes to Manhattan every day. And on top of that is the most anal parker you will ever come accross - ask anyone here. Bottomline, you want to keep your car looking good? Keep it out of Manhattan. If you really must take it in, then that extra $20, on top of the $60 that you would've paid either way, would at the very least give you a warm and fuzzy feeling in your stomach that you did everything you could to keep your car out of harms way. |

Its all about the driver, not the car. Even my beater Nissan Sentra, I treat with as much care as I can.
Besides, think about the last time you saw a Bentley chillin with a 1992 Oldsmobile in a parking garage. |
