None of them. I think the 328i and 330 have magnesium blocks with some aluminium inserted, while the N54 is all-aluminium (maybe based on the old e46 330i ?)

I really dont think its based on any previous engine. Sure it has dual vanos and what not but thats about where the similarities end.
