Standard to sports suspension
Hi, just wondering what BMW oem parts I would need if I were to lower my standard suspension to the M-sport type suspension on the 320i? Anyone done this?
Thanks

how come you're set on the M sport suspension?
to lower your car you don't have to use OEM parts. many people have used aftermarket springs with stock shocks with great success - have a look at the stickies in the Suspension/Brakes group http://www.e90post.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38 I'm personally going to run with eibachs with stock shocks - hopefully will be low enough for me. |

surely just changing springs isn't ideal..? shocks would be set for a different set up and you would bottom out?
also what about all the mumbo-jumbo about suspension being designed for RFT tyres? |

for fu&k sake..dont just replace the springs, the OEM shocks aint designed for sport springs. you'll either need to replace both of them or get a set of coil-overs.
do a search mate, plenty of discussions on Bilstein PSS9, KW v2, Koni etc. |

keep in mind everybody's posts here are opinions only.
I've read quite a few threads regarding lowering both with springs, and coil-overs. Seems to me like the Eibach Pro-kit springs on the stock ZSP shocks are a good combination from experience of others. I have ordered the Eibachs from a great US eBay seller (Au$340 delivered), and will be installing them on my stock shocks soon. I will let you know in a write-up, but as others have said, plenty of threads on the main forum regarding actual experience.

Besides, Eibach springs are designed to be used with stock shocks. AND if you feel that the Eibach/BMW combo isn't working, perhaps consider switching to a set of Koni's, something like the FSDs, more comfortable then OEM but more sporty as well. There's a good review of it on Tirerack here Also check out Tirerack's comparison of eibach/HR/OEM springs on this page First step for me - lowered on Eibach If it 's not comfortable - change shocks to Koni FSD If it's not low enough however - change to coilovers |

Thanks for the info guys, does sure give me some insight on what all would need..sure looks like a lot of research though")..I am looking at moving to 19" from 16" so looking at suspension to go with that, not sure if keeping the suspension stock standard would make it look a bit high

Ninja -
I got mine from eBay from a seller i am very happy with (rageperformancesales). I had a look for you and they don't have springs for you at the same price i got them, but worth a look on ebay. Make sure you get the right one!! **********s will charge about US$240 for shipping to Perth, not so sure about East Coast but I don't think it would be much different.

Hi Guys,
just picked up my 330i over the weekend and like Cruvon, am planning to swap out the rims with 19s. From what i've read, swapping out the RFT with non-RFT isnt going to cause any issues with sensors etc?...cars have so many gadgets attached to them now a days! parking lights went out the day after i picked it up and its a PITA to change the bulb! lucky its covered by warranty. I ran Dynamic Racing springs on my E46 with OEM shocks. Never had a problem! Currently tossing up between springs and coilovers coz through the years the novelty of a lowered car wore off. Looking for something that doesn't resemble a 4WD but at the same time the practicality of family road trips - eg snows. |
