Correcting bulb out errors
Bought some P90 Headlights c/w LED AEs and was running some test prior to installing, I am getting the following bulb out errors;
Parking Light Bulb Out Error (Both sides)
While it does self-clear this is a issue as I typically leave headlight switch in Auto, and during daylight the LED AE are not automatically turned on. Looks like each LED bulb draws 0.3w, at 8 bulbs per headlight that equals 2.4W. The original parking light is 5w, therefore if I added 2.6 watts to the system hopefully this should trick the BMW computer. At 13.8V I will need ~73 ohm/3+w resistor. Anyone know a good source for resistors? EDIT - Looks like Digi-key has a 75ohm/5w resistor I will try. The other error is; Lo-Beam Bulb Out Error (Both sides)
Anyone know of another error-cancelling module which does not have the above issue at start up. Last edited by SharpPointyStick; 10-13-2010 at 02:50 PM.. |

According to my math, this should correct the bub out error on the low beams;
OEM Halogens = 55W HID = 35W therefore need to add 20W to the circuit to trick the on-board computer to seeing a total of 55W. At 13.8W, need to added a 10 ohm/20watt resistor in parallel. Going to order one of these to test; http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...me=12M16-10-ND http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...MP820-10.0F-ND |

I have disabled my light errors via coding as using resistors burned my light control module and I would not recommend it.
see post # 327 worked for me to disable cornering light errors should work for you also. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...451145&page=15 |
