6AT + XEDE guys out there
Any issues with the auto trannies so far?
Also, how are you guys launching the car with all that torque? Is it best to turn off all dsc and dtc and just use throttle modulation and hope you don't peel out too much? Sflgator launched with just quickly pressing the dsc button and the car went pretty fast. Do you think doing it this method works best? How about braketorquing to 1500 rpms and flooring it with the dsc off but dts on? I wish Shiv had access to a 6AT car he can take to the track as well to do his 1/4 mile runs this week. Can anyone with a 6AT make it there this week to join him in some drag racing??? |

With the DSC on the ecu takes all the fun out of spirited driving. With the DTC on but the DSC off, there is almost a perfect balance, virtually no slip and smooth acceleration. With the DTC off, it is easy to just spin the wheels. Just for fun I turned the DTC off on a wet road with no cars on it and floored it, there was no traction at all. I highly recommend leaving the DTC on at all times unlesss you are just playing around with no other cars around.
The auto tranny is amazing and responds exactly as it did with the stock setup. Compared to my SCed G35, it is night and day. The G35 has a noticable lag between gears and it is more pronouced with more power. The 335 is a champ through all gears and all levels of power. |

Thanks williamf.
So in a dragrace scenario, would it be best to turn everything off and do alittle brake torqing and just try to modulate the throttle in first and 2nd and floor it in 3rd? I wonder how guys in the high hp/tq AMG cars launch. Do they have a launch control like feature or some special setting designed for drag racing scenarios or do they leave part of the traction control on and launch? |

Unless you're gonna spend a lot of time practicing, I recommend just turning off DSC and keeping DTC on. Modulate a little in first and just go to town afterwards. I haven't had much, if any, screeching in 2nd (don't recall any, but I may have been having too much fun at the time).

I agree with Orionredwing. The DTC will keep your wheels going forward with as much force as they can without breaking free. I know it may not be as fun, but I think that simply shifting into Sport mode and flooring it with the DSC off gives about the same performance as any other method. The paddle shifters are more fun though.
