Ahh didn't see that it was a warning! Yeah probably pulled you over either looking for a vehicle that fit your's description or felt like he would find something.

You don't know Maryland Highway patrol. They will ticket for doing 58 in a 55!
"County Sheriffs office" gave me a warning for doing "speed greater than reasonable" because I took a corner they way BMW's should take corners, but without having a radar and literally flying in the opposite direction and bucking an Illegal u-turn, he didn't have a case. I put them in quotes because I'm not entirely sure what their purpose is outside of the court system. State police do the major roads, county and town police do the local roads. CSO is a bit redundant in my opinion outside of shooting Mayor's dogs and throwing grandma to the ground. I also got stopped by MDST for being behind him in the far left lane, 3 cars back, doing the same speed as him. He gave me a verbal warning (captured on my dash cam) and then sped off. 3 miles down the road he pulled someone else over

You would have most likely lost if he issued you a ticket, you fought it, and he showed up to court. Violations like reckless/careless/unsafe driving aren't violations that can be measured by a radar gun or some machine, so there is no proof to be had. They are judgment calls by the officer based off their observations of your actions. So in court it would come down to your word vs. his. And 99% of the time a judge will side with a trained officer.

If he really was going slower than everyone else in the right hand lane, that makes him unlucky.
It's just a warning OP, but I think 5+ over is BS at highway speeds regardless.

Traffic police, in most locations, are simply a waste of taxpayer money. If you want to generate revenue, then set up speeding cameras.

I think it'd waste taxpayer money even more with all those replacements But to the OP: I think he was lookin for someone in your make/color, but you weren't him. 5 over is nothing. |

That's true, those things tend to get vandalized -- but they're cheaper than paying a traffic cop's salary with all the included benefits, and then his/her lifetime pension. I truly believe that a traffic cop's mission is about the same as a red light camera... both are a means to collect money. I don't generally buy the "but they're there to keep you safe!" arguments; this may be true on some stretches of highways, but not the majority. And not to bash only on traffic cops, but there are other 'public servants jobs' out there which simply need to disappear. |

"Walk all over us"? OP was knowingly speeding and the cop was enforcing a law that OP knew existed. I don't understand how that's "walking all over us". Was it douchey? Yeah. But it's a little early to throw the Big Brother paranoia angle in there, isn't it?
