Roaming on T-Mobile...?

Has anyone else noticed since Orange bought out T-Mobile that when roaming on T-Mobile a triangle indicator pops up on the radio display showing that you're 'roaming'? It's next to where the little aerial logo is on the right side of the display.

I was about to ditch Orange and move to Three, but now wherever I didn't have signal on Orange previously, I get a signal on T-Mobile - I'm really impressed!

Yes, it's a new feature!

I had an email from Orange this week prompting me to 'register' my phone - had to tap my number into the web site - I then received a text immediately that I had to reply to. I then got another two texts - the last one confirming the service was now active and to re-boot the phone.

I noticed last week it paired up with the missus car and instead of saying 'Paul's I-phone Orange UK' it said 'Paul's I-phone Orange T-Mobile'

All roaming charges are at no-cost along with data also.

Have suffered quite badly from poor Orange reception of late, has always been pretty good over the past years, maybe they have over-subscribed and allowing the use of T-mobile transmitters will alleviate this

Same for me too, with Orange, had message saying needed to register, now it picks up T-Mobile, but never noticed it to do so yet, but I think the coverage of Orange is pretty good near me.

Good to know I have more coverage though, and that it isn't costing any more!

Made the stupid decision to defect from Vodafone to T-Mobile only to discover that their network sucks. Orange coverage to fill T-Mob's enormous coverage gaps has to be a good thing.

I switched to Voda[hone after reading that they were sharing masts with Orange. After sitting beside someone with and identical phone with a full signal and I had nothing I asked which network they had and it was Orange. I then phoned Vodaphone but they had never heard of it See link

I got this reply from our T-Mobile account manager, looks like I will have to wait

Good Morning,
You will shortly receive a letter explaining how the National Roaming on Orange will work. You will not have to do anything, as it will be seamlessly done from this end. The expected date will be between the 31st October and the 4th November.
Your users will receive a text message confirming when the network sharing is available.

From my experience of all the networks O2 have been head and shoulders above the others for signal clarity. I'm with orange and the signals ok, a little choppy in certain places and nothing special. T mobile are crap and as of yet whenever I haven't received an orange signal the t mobile network hasn't taken over and picked up the plate. In essence oranges network us bigger and better and t mobiles is also 2G so for orange customers I can't see the point.

Orange's network is at capacity.

They have spent too little over the past 5 years and are now shafted.
They have to spend £40m between now and February to assure themselves of some capacity for next year and beyond.

One solution being considered at this time is to have Orange-branded T-mobile sims shipping as Orange sims, to allow Orange to (appear to) continue to make connections without adding to the strain of the network.

If you are on Orange, expect network crashes as the thing needs regular reboots.

Not sure if this still works or not (I did this a few months ago, before it was officially launched) but I activated Orange to T-Mobile roaming by texting 'Yes' to 2099.

Not sure if it'll still work, or if it works the other way round, but worth a try.

I had to text YES in reply to a text from 2121, so it may only work if you receive the invitation text first.

I had to do mine online by following the link and signing up. Then I sent them a text and got one back telling me to turn my phone off.
