X6 tire wear?

i also have an X6 50i. My front 19" winter tires show a lot of feathering when I reinstalled them this year. And a lot of wear on the outside of the tire (not inside or center). Independent tire guy tells me it needs an alignment. BMW service manager says its "normal".

Huh?

X5 and X6 wear the front tires on the outside and it is not adjustable.

They could have specifically set the car up this way for stability and control reasons. I would double check with a few other dealers as well, just in case.

On the X5 and X6 you have to change control arms to adjust camber. There a 3 different ones for each front corner for minor needed camber adjustment. Its big bucks to make camber adjustments. each arm lists for about $400 each plus labor! so anything other than a toe and go up front get expensive real quick.

Well winter is really here in Calgary and the Pirelli Scorpion RFTs suck really badly. They have 10,000 miles on them and are a disaster. The outsides are really worn down on the front.

Admittedly they are new, but the Pilot Alpins I just bought from Tire Rack and put on my wife's 335i xdrive are out of this world amazing. Her car is on rails - not since I drove on studded Nokians has winter been this good.

How long should my Scorpions last on the X6 50????

I'm thinking of buy a pair to replace the front. The backs look decent-ish.
