Bridgestone RFT Generation 3

Has anyone of you picked up a new BMW as of late?

If you did, do you know what Generation Bridgestone RFT you have ?

Is it 1, 2 or 3?

I understand Generation 3 is suppose to be better and quieter? I read last month that Generation 3 is only available in Japan at the moment? I just cannot locate the source anymore

Does anyone of you know how to tell if it is Generation 1, 2 or 3?

I know I ask a lot of questions here, however, I think the subject is close to all of you.... I think feedback here would be excellent for everyone

Thanks in advance to all posters !

Kris from Amsterdam mentioned that the 3rd Generation has cooling fins on the side of the tire, that be one way to tell I guess.

Hope the fins don't make more noise then the first Generation of RFT

Bridgestone 3G runflats are not available in North America, are not OE on any North American BMW model, and aren't due to this continent any time in the near future.

Thank you Gary you are the man as always

You know what Gary,

I stopped by at the Firestone Tire Dealership this morning displaying a big BRIDGESTONE Sign 4' x 4'

I asked the Manager "Please have a look at my tires they are 225/35/R19 Front and 255/30/R19 Rear all Bridgestone RFT on my 2009 BMW xDRIVE Z4 35i"

He did and I then asked him, "if I order a new tire what will it be G1, G2 or G3" he of course had no clue and then after consulting his manuals from Bridgestone said "I am in communication with Bridgestone all the time, no one told me anything about Generation 1, 2 or 3. Oh BTW your tire on your car is DISCONTINUED"

I thanked him and left.

Now should I have a flat I am thinking, will I need to purchase (2) two new tires to keep them the same thread design on the same axle? I wonder.

Great Job Thanks BMW and Bridgestone for taking such good care of us

In these sizes Bridgestone only makes one version of the tire, so you can't get it wrong Its the standard original 050A RFT.
