First Track Car build up time with background
I've been using the forum since 07, disregard the date when I joined :thumbsup2: Let me start with a little bit of my vehicle background and tracking background.
First of all my first vehicle was a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant ES. Mods were true CAI, kw suspension, custom interior;cosmetics if you will. I learned how to handle a little bit with that suspension and it was my first taste of suspension work that I accomplished myself. I did all my work from day one of ownership of my first vehicle. Second vehicle was acquired when I was in England. I owned a Toyota Soarer GT-T Twin turbo with 2jz and AEM CAI. That vehicle was my first TT and higher powered car, so I experienced a few track days with that car ![]() Third vehicle is the famous e46 m3 vert. This is and probably will be my favorite vehicle for a very long time and probably will buy one for my lady or z4m later on down the road ![]() For the winter time I own a 320i Euro spec as I'm still in Germany. Front and Rear sway bars, NGK plugs and performance filter with high measurable oil. No radio/light seats/lowered/ I6 with 5 spd are the jist of what I installed for it. I bought new drills rotors/HAWK hps pads and ECS tuning lines for it but I soon realized that it was a bit more of a winter vehicle not a drift car because of rust issues and I sold the random extra parts. Now onto the good stuff, e92 m3, "light package" I like to call it. AW/Coupe/EDC/DCT/ipod. Thats all the options I got because I want to do this vehicle up properly. I've already ordered 275/35/18 for some extra grip and 255 35 18 soon. Going with HFC and X pipe from Fabspeed as well as a tune from ESS up in norway and finally lower it a taste with HR. I do understand that by lower a vehicle with EDC the highest mode of EDC will be absolutely useless as far as staying on course because of the rigidnss and stiffness of the suspension at this point with being lower. Only EDC at normal will be used. Along with those few things that I've already said, haha, what other up coming things do you guys here at the forum think I can add to the vehicle or improve on or remove for a better suited track vehicle/weekend vehicle?

Eventually I will get replacement light weight seats for the rear..because its track/weekend duty vehicle for me. As far as roll bar, I do want one but I want a to do more research first.

Well to be honest, I like recaros, but I can get BMW performance seats used for probably 1200-1500 a piece. First things first more me in all honesty, driving the car strong where I Can but being safe about it. The cars suspension is magnificient... I will lower a tad and put on my fabspeed HFC and x pipes. ![]() No wide body even though its absolutely sexy

true... bmw performance seats look pretty good too, but dunno about the weight savings compared to recaro...
hmm... post some pics when ur done lowering it and putting the new pipes in!! why not a wide body kit? it would definitely improve the performance on the track... |

Honestly most of the people on this board have no clue what it takes to make a track car. By just throwing out "wide body kit" and "recaros". First find out what type of track racing you want to be doing. Then research what are the rules, restrictions and regulations. I'd recommend learning your car as it sits, then move on to suspension, then down to power. As for your weight reduction, why replace your rear seats, when it would be better just to remove them for your track day?

Thanks for those words,
I totally agree, and removing the seats for the track day would be a great idea thanks. I have played with the car a lot lately and I understand it a lot more than when I first got it ![]() Like I said before, I just ordered more rubber which I think should be step one after learning how the car manuevers and seats in the corners and handles. I never should of gotten EDC because I would love to throw some KW3 or AST on the e92, but since I got the system I might as well play with it.

Let us know what kind of tracking you're planning on doing and what your goals are. There are a few of us that do have experience in building a track car.
As mentioned before, bimmerforums is a great starting place. |

I'm developing a list for you and need a little more information. Here are some general questions to get the ball rolling: What are your class restrictions? How streetable do you need the car to be? What is your budget? |
