Channel Crossing Prices/Discounts

Hi Guys/Gals,

Just looking at booking Ferries/Tunnel for Xmas hols (around 22nd Dec - 8th Jan) and wondered if anyone has some decent discount codes etc for any of the dover region crossings?

Currently can get Seafrance and P&O at £110, Norfolkline at £90 and Eurotunnel at £130.

For convenience i think the Chunnel wins even at £130 but if anyone has seen any deals then please let me know.

Cheers,

Ben

You can get cashback on the Eurotunnel through Quidco.

Even better you can use Tesco clubcard vouchers for the tunnel at £40 for every £10 of vouchers. Just booked a trip for next August using £35 of vouchers.

Tescos are about to devalue their clubcard vouchers ( 6th December)so all deals will be £30 for every £10 instead of the current £40 for every £10.

Another vote for clubcard, used it this summer so cost only £40 instead of £160. Bit of a pain booking as you have to send for vouchers then phone eurotunnel to book. As poster above says you will need to get a move on before they reduce from 4 to 1 to 3 to 1.

Not exactly Dover, but LD Lines out of Newhaven run some good deals and excellent ships. Next to the Chunnel, they get my vote.

Gaah! Unfortunately i'm a nectar man, i shop in sainsburys as its the nearest big supermarket and fill up at Sainsburys/BP for the points (company fuel card).

Apart from being able to spend in sainsburys (which is good), the nectar card seems a bit rubbish!

AlwynMike - Heading to Biarittz non stop in one day so the quickness of the Chunnel beats Newhaven for me.

Better get Tesco club card collecting for next year then!

Cheers for all the replies.

I know what you mean. I did Shropshire to Dordogne only stopping twice (for diesel) in my E46 330d Touring. Half an hour's sleep in the chunnel wasn't much! Newhaven was good because one crossing was "overnight", so I had a couple of hours kip before the long drag south (I was in a hired Galaxy - didn't expect daughter to be coming with us again, but to be politically correct, I asked her. She shocked us by saying that THEY would like to come - daughter and BF. Six up in an E60 doesn't work).

Bristol to Dover to Biarritz seems a long way round, even though the driving is good across the water. I'd be tempted with one of the long sea crossings. I've done Poole Cherbourg on the Fast Ferry a few times - quick, but it's like being on a bus.

In years past, I used to work on the Dover ferry's. How times have changed!

I did an overnight crossing a couple of years ago (Portsmouth to St Malo) thinking I could get a good nights sleep on the boat and then have a nice drive south in the morning.

I got sod all sleep due to the tiny bunk beds, paper thin walls and the constant shouting, sirens and vibrations from the ship every few minutes.

By the time I reached out destination I was wasted.

Tunnel every time for me now even if it means (like this year) we end up staying in a hotel in France to break the journey.

LD used to run Poole - Le Havre IIRC.

The ships are head and shoulders above Brit Ferries IMO
