335D DMS remap
Has anyone had their 335D remapped by DMS?
![]() The extra grunt is not really required in the current weather conditions ![]() My Insurance is due for renewal mid April so I going to pose the +££ question then.

I reckon you'll get peak torque of around 700nm+ !!!!! I'd have gone that route myself if it could be done with a manual gearbox. |

Before driving this car I would said the same about auto boxes but it really is good enough to change the attitude of most. BMW steering wheel buttons seem very intuitive ~ thumb push to go down a gear/ pull with fingers to come back. Sort of fits in with the controls on my bikes campag ergo levels..well sort of. Anyway with all that torque, gear changes arn't really required as much

The new auto box is supposed to be a lot quicker and as you say - with 700nm you don't really need to change gear much. Are you going to take the plunge then? |

Probably: but do I want to be first in the water?
I won't do it before April

I am tempted, but my insurance company won't give protected no-claims bonus on modified cars, so either I keep it relatively stock, or I give up the protected 65% no-claims...
I'm going to wait for the better weather, right now the car seems to have more than enough power...

![]() I know of several people who have dms'd cars and have not divulged. I was going to get the 530d done, but I my company insure it (even though it's my car) and to tell the truth I felt slightly embarassed about telling them. |

700NM of torque JEEEEZ
couple of q's about this: • do any other components need uprating to cope with the extra beef? • how many MPG do you think is lost due to the upgrade? my estimated answers for the above questions are "no" and "maybe 3-4" - am i right? |

2. People who have had 535d remaps suggest that the mpg actually improves. |

i'm after a wee bit of clarification...
is what DMS do basically what all the american guys are on about with the xede and procede kits? are they adding an off the shelf chip like those two or are they remapping the actual ecu somehow? (or am i well off track?) i want this extra power unleashed but unsure of the best way to do it ![]() |

The lancer register (Evo owners club) guys are talking alot at the moment about Flashing the standard ECU, this seems to be doing the job for a 20% increase in power and it can be mapped/set up to that perticlur car just the same has an after market item. You do need the software and the lead but it seems to work really well. Anybody heard about or tried this etc???.

700nm of torque would turn it into a real monster, but is it really necessary?
They're pretty dam quick as they are! Regards Chris

![]() ![]() I had got in contact with Mike Cooper at DMS & Simon at e-maps, to organise a remapping event as a 'group buy', at UK2. Costs, interest &, finally, availability, prevented anything getting sorted out. More info about this below: ![]() Viv |

theres a big difference in price between those two companies, is DMS a lot better or do they simply charge a lot more for a similar service?
also, a minor dilemma with all this is that my bm is on a lease, but if its undetectable i guess its not an issue? except that the next guy to own it in 3 years will have a pleasant shock ![]() |

![]() As for the pricing issue- well, DMS are a well-known company, &, as far as I know, have not yet had any claim on any of their remaps world-wide. That really brings about the question- If nobody has ever claimed on a DMS installation problem, how do I know what will happen if something does go wrong & BMW tell me my warranty is no longer valid? What exactly will the DMW warranty cover & will they tell me the problem I have is a 'BMW' issue & has nothing to do with their installation? ![]() ![]() Simon at e-maps is an ECU professional & I've heard a lot of good things said about his work, however, he does not offer a warranty (because he does not see any need for this, taking DMS's history into account), &, as such, his price is lower. The difficulty arises when something goes 'wrong' & when you need help, advice & backup- I'm sure the effect of the remap is the same whichever company carries out the work. All the best. Viv |

there is one difference (apart from the $$$) - at the current time e-maps are not offering a 335d remap as they are having problems with the ECU, but i guess its just teething problems as its a new car...
hopefully they'll crack it soon cuz they are a hell of a lot closer than DMS ![]() |
