I got an LG VX8300. Everything works great, pairs easily, phone book transfers fine etc., easy to switch from car's BT to phone use alone and vice versa.
The only thing I have noticed (just yesterday, so I haven't tested this out much) is that I don't think I can easily accept a call-waiting call (it doesn't show up on the Nav screen either)... I pressed the phone button on the steering wheel and instead of switching to the 2nd caller it just hung up. Need to test it more but overall great phone and works great with the Bimmer. edit: I'm with Verizon

I am glad that someone started this thread as I am looking to get a new cell phone and cell phone service very soon.
This is what I found on BMW's website in regards to the compatable phones. http://www.bmwusa.com/owners/bluetooth/phones I want to switch to Cingular, anyone have a recomendation on which phone to get? Thanks.

I think Verizon is similar to Telus.. certainly it's the roaming network that mine uses in the US..
Your best bet is a Motorola as it seems to share the same bluetooth extensions as the car. I need a smartphone in my life (cause I'm not so smart), so I went to the Phoneshop and tried pairing a bunch of them. Pretty much all the Motorola's worked, while other styles were hit and miss. Mine is a MotorolaQ, but the simple Motorola phones they had worked also. the Q works perfectly in and out of the car, including the bluetooth syncro with our company network and my Outlook. |

I have the blackberry 7130e (I think thats the model #) and it does EVERYTHING. This is the best phone I have ever had. Battery is great, email is great and so is sound quailty. If I were you I would get it.

Dont know what phones you have in your country, but i have tried the latest SonyEricsson phones out there:
K800i, Z610i, etc etc. And all of them works with 100% functionality! |

I've used the Blackberry 8700 and most recently the Cingular 8525 and they both work perfectly.
If you're looking for a good smartphone then I'd highly recommend the 8525. Out of the box it's a pretty good phone, but then add some 3rd party applications and it's a great phone. |

Depending what you need in a phone other than BT would help narrow down the good choices. Also, Verizon is much better than Cingular in NY/NJ, why would you consider switching services?

I have the Motorola V7 slivr. no camera and works perfect - phone book and all. I don't even need to switch anything and it transfers to and from the car seamlessly.

I think we are going to stay with Verizon for ease, plus we have never had a problem with service around here. I have never had a dropped call if you can believe that.
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/s...ompletedOrder= I like the LGVX8300....as it also has VZ Navigator avail, does anyone know if the navigator voice commands will sync w/ bluetooth and our radio to give directions through the car? That would eliminate the need for me to buy aftermarket Nav.

No what I'm saying is this...... I set the destination in the phone.....because the phone has voice directions.....wouldn't it bluetooth over to the car and be audible through the car speakers??...or is it only for calling??? I dont mean saying a command and having the car transfer that to the phone...
