RACELAND DOWNPIPES NEW Batch Review
Ok so got the new batch of raceland dps...got them installed...not a perfect fit but they do fit..had to adjust the v band clamp some..
The problem i did have on my specific set was the rear o2 sensors do not fit in the bungs...the bungs are to small. The car will run fine since it really only needs to read the front o2 sensors on each pipe... All in all they still work for a cheap affordable price.. Good luck for you that ordered or are thinking of ordering |

This person which the pic is from had his 02 sensor not fit because of poor excessive welding material that he had to dremel the excess material away and resize the bung hole....Maybe thats the OPs issue...Here is the pic, but regardless of how cheap these pipes are, they should have cleaned up that hole if anything...I mean if your going to weld anything at least make sure its have way decent..

So i take it the first original batch were the best me and a few others never had problems like the ones now. Theyre probably usin someone different for manufacturing on this batch.

Hmm..........This doesn't look too promising. The fit and finish issue is really turning me away from this pipe. Unless this is an isolated incident, I just might go with VK DP.

I continue to be amazed and baffled how people will continue to purchase junk components for an expensive cars like ours! It is just beyond me.
I would not put products of such low craftsmanship on a $500 junker Kia, let alone on a BMW! Its like you've just had an expensive dinner hand cooked by master chefs made entirely from organic ingredients in accordance to all best nutrition practices and you decided to have a moldy twinkie for desert!

Some people have tried to claim the Macht Schnell gain an additional 15+ hp over a 2.5", that was between your regular 2.5" name brand and the 3" name brand. I say the Chinese made 2.5" will compete and perform as well as the name brand 2.5" DP at 1/5th the price. I'm waiting for the name brand guys to buy a set of Raceland pipes and prove they are not as good. I guarantee the cheapos are way better than stock DPs, simply by getting the CATs out of the way first of all. Right there you have a better flowing setup to allow better spool and airflow. So you have to deal with some minor fitments issues...so what..you save $500+.

They are using some 12yr old Chinese kid they pay $3/day to make these things. Seriously...that is how it works in the Chinese manufacturer sector.

I dont get why people have to 'save money' and sacrifice a good quality product to buy some cheap chinese knock off POS. I would never run these downpipes on my own car or any of my customers cars.

I love how the people that already have expensive dp's, the one's that only buy the most expensive stuff, and the vendors are all bashing these when they haven't even put them on a flow bench to see how they perform against the "big" names.
If you want to knock them, then purchase them, test them, and prove your excessively negative, bashing comments. |

Just a quick update...Raceland said they will return my full money back and provide me with a return label if i return within their 30 day grace period..They have noticed the problem and said they have taken them off of their site until they find a solution.
I would love to buy a set of ar or ms but ms are back ordered 2 weeks and ar are quite pricey. I do agree they are top notch but still on the steep side...Hopefully they can work out a group buy soon since there are a lot of people interested. |

However, just flow wise, I would be very interested to know how they flow against other 2.5" dp's. You have to admit though, they are a very good inexpensive solution that would save a buyer enough money to go purchase a meth kit with the money they would save by not buying the ms, ar or other higher priced dp's. If you wanna give me a hell of a deal on some dp's to sway me your way though, we can talk or rather loan me some to play with until the single kit comes out! |
